Just saw the 1299 full Akrapovic system at my dealers.

Akrapovic's have always been superior quality and craftsmanship but the price for the Pani is highway robbery. There is no reason for the Pani version to be that expensive and I've had Akrapovic on my R1, 6RR, 525 SMR and 2 R6's.

I guess a big fxxking flapper valve for noise compliance

I also noticed the Aruba.it squad and others are using a system with a cross-over pipe. I'll see if I can round up a pic.

The smaller transition pipe.

This point is a ridiculous one. You forget that we ride an expensive crotch rocket. EVERYTHING for our bike is more expensive than most other bikes....especially exhausts.

This was by far the most complicated exhaust system Akrapovic came up with. It's no coincidence why it took so long to put into production. One could also complain about all the other exhaust systems for our bikes on the market. Check out the cheapest low quality junk that sells for our bike and compare it to exceptional quality and flawless welds on the lightest and sexiest looking metal for an exhaust and then it will make more sense why it costs as much as it does. The cheapest full system for the 1199 is still more expensive than some of the high end full systems for all other bikes. I'd agree that the DP version is overpriced but you get the cool logo and an upmap to go with it but the Evo system can still be had for $3000-$3500, which isn't too far off a heavier and much less appealing Termi. This point is coming from someone who had a difficult time justifying the cost for this system, not because i didn't think it was worth it but because it definitely is a lot of money.

Very well said. Once you see the system and perhaps fit it yourself you can appreciate why it is so expensive. Yes it is a lot of money but hey you only live once. For me its the best upgrade I have done on my bike. Brad the "Akra" fan.

I hear ya man but paying premium because of the "if you can afford a Ducati you can afford..." mentality is the ridiculous part. No lie, I'm a cheapskate and if I can find a deal, I'm all about it. $3500 is a decent price thanks to Jarel and MotoMummy and it's a full Ti Evo. Since there is a full system listed for under $3000 proves otherwise.

Akrapovic is in the exhaust market for consumers and racing teams so I really doubt that the Pani was their most complicated exhaust. If you have links that prove me wrong, please do forward.

It does look like something that belongs in a museum or on my coffee table while MotoGP plays in the background!

That full system looks like it has large pipes located close to the fairing. I hope they've done there "due diligence" regarding clearance on the fairing for heat dissipation. I seem to recall some damaged fairings on the 1199 from heat. Fingers crossed.

1199 Akra

Yes, the 1199 Akra fits on my new 1299s! Have not been out there unfortunately, because of the weather conditions...

Thats great, if I once switch to a 1299, I will also use the full Akra from my 1199.

What engine mapping are you using? The up-map-key from the DP Full Akra for 1299 is not available seperately I guess...

Because Akrapovic designed this exhaust around the stock mapping of the bike.

Is it ideal to have the bike tuned via aftermarket tuning options? Of course.

Do you have to or is there any problems not running a tuning option? Absolutely not. Performance gains won't be optimal unless u get it tuned but even untouched, you will still gain hp and tq while losing 7ish pounds as well as having an orgasmic sound coming from your crotchrocket. That alone is worth the price of admission.

Not sure how Ducati justify the hike in price over the full system many of us purchased for the 1199. I suspect that supplying it through their dealer network chain, means they can tag on some extra profit, as opposed to you buying it through a third party supplier, which was the case before. If this logic is true, then by rights the price of the Termignoni system should come down!

And why does the DP full Akra for the 1299 comes with an up-map to activate a specific mapping for this exhaust?

Because the design is very different from stock, no flapper valve, no catalytic converters and a completely different layout of the cans (absorbtion instead of reflection principle)

This is similar to the full termi system on the 1199 which also came with OEM up-map or was driven by many with custom/specific mapping.

Of course you can drive with the stock map (as you could it on the 1199), but this is far from optimal to do so from my understanding.
