And why does the DP full Akra for the 1299 comes with an up-map to activate a specific mapping for this exhaust?
Because the design is very different from stock, no flapper valve, no catalytic converters and a completely different layout of the cans (absorbtion instead of reflection principle)
This is similar to the full termi system on the 1199 which also came with OEM up-map or was driven by many with custom/specific mapping.
Of course you can drive with the stock map (as you could it on the 1199), but this is far from optimal to do so from my understanding.

This just arrived, but note the exhaust.....

This is the homologated Akra, as seen on the SL. Somewhat different to the Akra EVO system!! Think I prefer the Evo system if I'm honest........
(sorry, no more pics just yet, this is the only one the dealer sent!)
But it was clearly visible in all official images that the Panigale R comes with the SL Akra cans and pipes, including catalysers and flapper valve (thats a requirement by law).
I would prefer the Evo system as well but with 205 crank hp and near $4k for slip ons...I can live without it!This just arrived, but note the exhaust.....

Isn't 'Racing Evo' on startup indicating the map for the full system is loaded?

However, if a racing kit exists for the SL, I would hope something similar will appear for the R.
A quick update on the pricing; basically, my Sales guys was full of you know what.. Today, I was told by the parts department that they "priced it wrong" and they want $4,995.00 for the system, despite the fact that I paid for it already. Not freaking happy and will basically get my money back.. I'm not paying $5k + CA sales tax for an exhaust on general principle. I will stick with stock and then have the cans cored, or the cats cored if I decide I want more sound.
I had been led to believe that the headers on the 1299 were larger diameter than the 1199 and consequently the Akra was specific to the model? If I'm wrong, that makes me VERY happy to hear. That's the official US-Retail price for the DP full Akra system for 1299. Why don't you buy a full Akra for the 1199 in the free aftermarket, it is exept the up-map-key and the DP Logo exactly the same as the DP Akra - and you'll get it much cheaper! Specific mapping can be solved by Rapidbike or Tuneboy with a customised dyno tune.

You Sir, have made my day. Thank you.I exactly asked this question to TJ (who is product manager at Ducati in Italy), he confirmed that the DP Akra for the 1299 has a diameter of 60mm, which is identical to the full Akra for 1199:
