So I went to the local BMW dealer with a friend to pick up his new gloves and made one of the most spontaneous purchases ever...

I have a beautiful V4 Speciale but I felt so bad putting almost 2000 miles on it inside of one month that I wanted a 2nd bike... I also wanted a bike I could ride 2 Up.. (.....)..lol

Anyway, I saw a totally loaded up, Akrapovic, all kinds of top end shift gear, etc.. S1000RR in the showroom that they were giving $5000 off (yes $5000).. from $25200 to $20200 and then 0% financing...

I signed the paperwork with in 1 hour and pick it up Saturday.. I will use this is my daily burner and the Ducati on my special rides...

BMW beater. :D:D:D

Congrats on the beater, which colorscheme is yours?

I figured they'd heavily discount them since the all new model is coming in may.

I guess it would be good to post some pics... lol.. Problem is this forum limits the size to a ridiculously small number... 19K?? All my pics are like 400K+.. Anyone have a way to do that?

Yes, clearance price got me... I don't need the new version for $8K more!

The links worked, best color of the lot.

0% finance is always a winner in my book. Specially with all the goodies yours has.

My friend picked up the same model in aus with 1400km from a dealer for 20,500 aus dollars. Which is a pretty good deal for down here.

They're a good bike man, especially so if you're thinking of putting decent miles on it.
Ten times the easier commuter than a 1299.

It's a V4 that I ride, which I hear is less harsh than the 1299.... but funny you should mention the 1299... I do want to get a "the last of the V twins" Ducati also!

Oh no way, my bad. How is it!? I havent ridden the new model. I hear good things though!

The 1299 Is notbad, punches hard thats what i love about it most.
Its not like most litre bikes where they start pulling hard at say 6k rpm, this pulls like a train from the start.

I've thought about that, if in future they'll have good resale due to being the last of the twins.. I wonder

I think the 1299 in general and the Finale will hold value well, as will my V4 Speciale (first limited V4).. but as for how it rides.... it's literally the best fusion of what makes a Ducati a Ducati and other 4 cylinder bikes... its unique and yet manageable without being sterol like the S1000RR... has soul, but doesn't make you feel like it's trying to shake itself apart like the 2 cylinder ducs I've ridden before.. I have no regrets..

I picked up a new 16 S1000RR exactly two years ago. Nearly 14K miles on it and the only issue I've had is the stock battery was replaced under warranty. All available options for a bit under $16K. I think overall it's better than my R1M, but the R1M does look good.

I'll probably pick up the 2020 when it comes out in a few months, or when the reviews surface. Even fully loaded with the M package I don't think it will be $28K.

You should have an excellent commuter. It does everything well.

Congratulations. I was seeing the same deal a couple of months ago and thought very seriously about trading my 1199 for one. I finally decided to keep the 1199 which is my "third" bike and traded one of my other bikes for a new bike. But that S1000RR sure was tempting.

Enjoy!
