Alright so first off I'm not entirely sure if this thread is correctly placed.

I am in a bit a predicament, so I am just throwing this out there in the event that someone in the LA area is feeling extraordinarily willing to help.

I am currently in Lima, Peru and will not be back stateside for about 2-4 months.
I have been presented with the opportunity to make a good deal on a 1299 S, but I don't really wanna buy it without inspecting it or at least having a trustworthy third party inspect it for me.

What I am searching for is an individual that would be willing and able (for some sort of favor or a small fee in return) to give the bike, which is located in the La Habra, CA area, a quick look and let me know the state of it. It only has about 1,400 miles on it and the seller seems like a great guy, so it should be pretty straight forward, but even so I just don't feel good about committing 100% to purchasing a bike that hasn't been looked over by a third party.

It's probably too much to ask, but worst case I won't get a response.
Thank you all in advance.

I'd help if I was there. Good idea and I hope it woirks out for you getting the bike!

Thanks Gnance, I know you would.
I've seen so many people selflessly help others on here so I figured I'd give it a shot.

How soon do you need this done? It's about 80 miles from me. Normally, I'd ride out there, but the only street legal bike I have at the moment is break-in mileage so I'd have to cage it.

Hey Terminator,

Yeah I know it's pretty far from you. Obviously if you have any other reason for being out in that area, that would be amazing. If not it's a lot to ask.
It's not that I need it done today though. I figure like sometime this week or the next.

What bike are you breaking in? :)

Distance isn't too bad, but traffic in a cage can be an asskicker as you will find out in a few months when you move here. This week is tight, however I'll see what I can do next week.

Breaking in a 1299, Moonwalk Edition ;)

Yeah I know it's horrible.
Let me know when you figure out if it'd be doable or not. Really appreciate you even considering it man.

Lollll. No way, you got a 1299 SL??

Will do. I hope to know within the next few days.

Yes, I did. I got very lucky and feel very blessed

Amazing. Congrats!
We should definitely go tear up some canyons once I get settled.

Sure, I just told the guy that there's a chance I might be able to have someone come look at it next week so whenever you get your calendar figured out give me heads up. Thanks again brother.

Hey Adrian, it's about the same distance from me but it's also near the dealer where I got my bike. Let me call them up to see if they have plans to do the Brembo brake recall on my 1299 anytime soon. If so, I wouldn't mind swinging over to check out this bike for you afterward.

Be damn funny if more people responded and we ended up descending upon this guy with a Ducati forum biker gang just to inspect one bike. We could call King up and make a video of it.

Hahaha. Make sure he puts some bubbles on that video. If one of you could moonwalk next to it that would be great just to see how moonwalking suits it. I just imagined the scenario of a like a handful of guys showing up to inspect a bike for a third party. Hilarious.

Sounds good man, let me know what they say.
That would be perfect. Appreciate you reaching out either way. Thank you.

Get the bike inspected at a ducati dealership with that paperwork should be enough, the owner should pay for it if they want to sell it.

This is true, as I mentioned before, this guy is located up near the Brea Ducati dealer and they have a pretty knowledgeable service department from my experience.

Yeah agreed.
That'd be SoCal Motorsports in Brea, right?

I'm still hoping that one of the guys who have offered to help will be able to, so I don't risk that the dealership end up luring him into to some sort of trade or anything like that ;)

@laughingmanred, @ducatiterminator,

Did either of you have any luck figuring out if you would be able to go give it a look possibly sometime this week? Early next week probably wouldn't be a problem for him either if that makes a difference for you guys.

This weekend is looking like a possibility.

Somebody, or a few somebodies, are going to help you on this. I'd love to but, it's a two hour drive for me without traffic. With traffic, very painful.

With that low of mileage IT SHOULD BE in PERFECT CONDITION. Whoever looks at it should look at the tires closely. They will tell part of the story.

Hey brother,
Unfortuantely the timeline for my arrival in CA has been pushed a little, and it's not looking more like anywhere from June to September, so sadly it's kind of looking like it's now becoming very complicated for me to buy this bike. Even if I was willing to buy it now and have it stored, the new timeline has made it very likely that I'll be able to get a better offer by waiting it out, rather than having a bike depreciating for months until my arrival - I think - thoughts???

Again let me just say that I really appreciate the helpfulness of you and other members on here. I will definitely reach out to you if this opportunity or a similar one presents itself again down the line, and if nothing else, upon arrival in LA.
