Take it apart

Put it together using yamabond instead of silicone and problem most likely gone : )

Guys - this is super helpful! From the pics are you saying that the area is only holds oil and no coolant so something is wrong...? That's interesting as it really looked like the coolant was pooling right at the seam..? Let me try to get some better pics or video of it while it's happening to see if I see anything new and I can share here as you guys unfortunately seem to know this issue from 1st hand experience. I really don't want to split the case if I don't have to but looking to do the right thing next?

Guys, I just cleaned it off and then watched it again. Once you start the engine after 30 sec you see blue coolant right here next to the sealant and it slowly fills the area till that area behind the engine is full (but does not spill over which is wierd). I put a mirror under that hump and it looks dry above that area and is dry below that area..? So the exact point is the intersection of where that horizontal crack meets the vertical seam. What I don't understand is you saying there is no coolant there inside the case then how is it leaking our from there?

Just posted a video short of it running and you can see the coolant coming right where I show in the previous pic, hopefully this is helpful. Any more ideas or something else I should check?

It’s not leaking from there, that is just it’s exit point. You have a leak somewhere else and the point that it is escaping is the path of least resistance. That motor needs to come apart to fix it correctly.

Does it make sense with the crack coolant could be coming from between cylinder and casing? I know a teardown would validate but just testing a possible hypothesis?

By the looks of that video, that’s coming from the case. That’s like an IRS audit followed by divorce court followed by a root canal followed by a head on collision on the way home.
Don't forget to add the restraining order from the ex.

Any ballpark on cost to replace the casing from a shop? Assuming new casing I assume this is $$$ but it would good to understand the amount of cost or labor (or range) so I can figure out my path going forward?

Yes I would say that is the most likely source of the leak so its found its way through the sealant to the point of exit. Question is, is there coolant leaking into the oil? and is there physical damage to the case? If there isnt, then you can minus the sost of a new case from the following. A new case from Ducati is about $4800.00. If the dealer is going to do the work, they will need to replace a bunch of additional seals and gaskets and they will also "encourage" you to refresh other parts some probably warranted and some not. Total rebuild plus parts would be I'm guessing $8000.00. Get a used motor and find a competent mechanic. Swap is not difficult

What a 1399....? Is that an 1199 with increased stroke or bore size - is there an aftermarket kit for that! I need to have hope before I cry right now!

Not available yet but it’s in progress my friend : )

There is other stuff you can do while it’s apart (if you don’t just buy a used motor):

The oem gear ratios are terrible for the 1199 combo. Good for slow street riding but there are options if you are willing to sacrifice some rideability for better performance

Or you could leave the trans alone and go to 116 mm bore

Lots of options compared to boring v4 : )

Anyone have a good used 1199 engine for sale please message me directly =(). Also if I am searching the market for a lower price good used motor and you have tips other then the basics (Ebay, Marketplace) happy to hear?

The head gasket could likely be the source. If you're looking at the expence and hassle of pulling the motor, it might be worth a day getting the rear head off. There would likely be tell tale signs if the gasket has let go. It'll probably be simpler than changing motors and if there's no coolant path between the 2 parts of the block then there should be no need to split them.

Positive thinking. Love it

You don’t pull motor anymore. Now you remove the bike from the motor (no frame) and to be honest once the airbox is off there ain’t much left bolted to the engine

Besides it’s a 10 year old track bike. I would wanna check everything out... wouldn’t you?
