I was under the impression that the SL came with a full Akra system but that's not the case... it is pretty much slip ons..

I hope the headers that come with the bike are good to use with the slip-on kit that comes in the racing kit crate to give it the same performance level as a full Akra system.

A full ti (headers excepted, which are steel because they get too hot to be ti) Akra system is ALREADY on the bike. The racing kit comes with an additional, racing exhaust. You're not going to increase the performance of the SL by changing the exhaust, believe me.

Thats where I think you are mistaken...

I dont know what the stock system is on the SL but it surely is not Akrapovic.. its just a set of titanium silencers.

The racing kit just comes with the split pipe piece and the Akra silencers and the up-map (look at the pic attached in my post). So it essentially appears to be a slip-on kit and the default map that is unlocked with the bike is configured for the stock silencers.

How do I get a video on here? I am sure my Tri with CW slip on sounds just as good. :D
By end of business on Wednesday she will have her liberated and ceramic coated set of full Termignonis back and she will by then sound better I am sure. :D

what are you doing with your CW's?

The CW slip on is still in very good nick, I will let it go for USD 1 400 + postage. I paid USD 1800 for it when I bought it last year.
My fuel tank would be available for USD 1 800 + postage a little bit later on (after I have received my cf fuel tank).

OKAYYYYY if the SL doesn't come with a full "titanium" system then thats just ........!!!!! that alone would change my mind if i were purchasing this bike ..

my second point is after trying to observe the bikes in the pictures i realized if this is a spy photo those bikes can be new releases for 2015 !!!! one looks like a ducati 1199 corse and the other looks like some special color as well"¦ correct me if I'm wrong fellas

Hi Acowsik,

please take a look at my location, and understand that I'm not guessing here ;)

The stock system is Akra, with full ti pipes (except for the steel headers as I mentioned). The racing exhaust is also Akra, and only replaces the y-pipe and silencers because there's no performance to be gained by replacing the rest of the system.

The stock exhaust system should be full titanium (including the headers) so my feeling is that they just needed to provide the Akra slip ons separately to complete the system by not fitting it at factory due to emission regulations and have the up-map with the Akra slip ons provided with the kit to be updated as part of that install..

tj99 probably works at the factory lol i will take his word for now

If there is no performance gain, then what is the point of the racing system??

It doesn't make sense to me at all.. I am really confused here

I said "there's no performance to be gained by replacing the rest of the system" - i.e. everything other than the silencers. I.E. the large-diameter, full-titanium, equipped-as-stock, exhaust tubes.

Replacing the stock street-homologated full-ti Akra silencers (with the included race kit silencers) = performance gain
Replacing the parts upstream of the y-pipe = useless

That's why only silencers and y-pipe are included with the race kit.

Capisci?

Gotcha !!!!

But there is some gain with the race silencers at least... I'll take that ;)

+5hp is gained with the race silencers. You can trust that if it would've further increased power to include alternate exhaust tubes with the race kit, we'd have included them.

:D;):D

that first image in the thread tj99 can you elaborate if that is custom painted bikes or new models?

well, i'll just take comfort that my 1199s at least has more bling on the exhaust than an SL :)

TJ99 - Quick question. Thank you for your assistance, as I really appreciate it, but can you confirm that the exhaust that comes with SL the full race version of the Akra.

There is no other version available - correct?

Sorry to be pain, but from your description, it sounds like the bike comes with the top Akra exhaust available.... :D

Thanks-BigBoost

Ya, I know.
2 of the non-SL 1199s in the pic are custom painted.

The second one is surely an SL as the tail key slot was a give away (its near the rear the seat on SLs vs underneath for std 1199 models).

In the first pic it appeared as though the bike had the tail key slot on the top even if I strained my eyes but I couldn't really make out much there.. could be a custom painted one..

Based on his description it sounds like the SL just comes with the silencers, i.e.: slip ons. It does not sound like it is the FULL exhaust, meaning that the aftermarket Akra exhaust is from the engine block all the way to the silencers, whereas this is not. Sounds like there are steel headers.

Edit: photos of what is including of the race kit: http://ducati1199.com/ducati-1199/17472-1199-superleggera-racing-kit.html

Just the slip ons and Y pipe.
