I know when guys get 2nd bikes on here it always seems to be another Sport Bike..well cool..but I am thinking about a Cruiser as my 2nd bike.... Something used but late model....

So I have been looking and I like ( I think lol) The Yamaha V Star Classic or the Suzuki C50 Boulevard....... Anybody have any "sensible constructive" comments about either of these???... or even other suggestions??? I am looking to spend maybe $5k or less.....

Diavel, no contest. Rented one 2 years ago and cruised the Alps with it. Comfy, stylish, powerful, great components....can't go wrong!

Vulcan?!?

Don't know if you're really looking for the cruiser look/feet forward position. If you're not, I would steer you towards a Buell 1125 R or CR (naked version). I had an 1125R and man that bike handled so well on the street and was quite comfortable compared to a full on race replica. Seriously, one of the best bikes I've ever owned after 20+ of them.

The 1125CR with the optional riser bars is even more comfortable and has even lower gearing. The Rotax twin is a "traditional" twin with tons of low-end grunt and still good top-end. Besides a few stator issues the motors are very reliable. I put 12,000 miles on mine without anything but oil changes.

This review actually had the 1125CR beating out a Ducati Streetfighter:

Ok: I am in the same boat as you for next year....

I have too many "sports bikes" and the duke is a great single cruiser and it's ok for two up, but not for like hours.

I was thinking of getting a used 2014 Diavel next year. Seriously the new dual spark plugs makes a HUGE difference in the low end drive-ability.

Otherwise & I cannot believe I am going to say this.....

A Harley Street Glide. Seriously, if I ever get a bad back in my late 60's I would get one. Freaking like driving a couch.

I cannot ride one now, as I hate having my feet in-front of me, but damn those things are ridiculously comfortable.

The C50 has to have the worst breaks of any bike I have ever ridden. It is fuel injected and shaft driven so maintenance costs would be lower. Stay away from the V-Star 650/1100 series. It requires a valve inspection every 3000 miles! Not to many owners actually do them so you may be getting something on the used market thats more of a headache than you want. The Kawi 900 and V-Star 950 series would be top of my list for bikes in that catagory. I'd even look for something in 1300cc class.

A cruiser or somethjng comfy? A friend of mine rides a used aprilia tuono rsv4 and swears by it, a few have the Yamaha fz-09 and love them

Ugh. Cruisers. Snooze........

Something less hard edged? A sport tourer. Or something you can make into one.

I have my eye on a Triumph Speed Triple as a replacement for my aging Triumph Sprint ST.

Triumph makes great triples. You can do 800 mile days and still feel human at the end of it. And their triples are pretty much bullet proof.

But gawd...a cruiser?? Someone needs to give you a good slappin' to knock you out of that coma.

my buddy got a vmax. says it rides great and it sure is powerful however i dont like any other kind of bike at all no mater what it is if its not a sport bike i wont even look at it.

you may want to check that out
