Lorenzo and Honda Sign 2 Year Deal

It'd be sad if JL constantly finishes ahead of AD for the remainder of the season. Claudio's gonna be tearing his hair out.

i think it's Jlow lost if he doesn't want to stay with Ducati another yr. If he's finally figuring out how to ride the Duc and make it to work for him and have a chance to put him self on the podium then why would you want to move on. it would be his benefit to stay another yr and be a front runner for the championship contender instead of learning to ride new bike all over again. Never like the guy anyway even when he was with Yamaha

For Lorenzo it comes down to who he thinks is going to give him the best chance at winning the title. He left Yamaha because he felt he was being treated like he wa the second string rider behind Rossi even though he’d proven he was better on so many occasions. He want to Ducati with the expectation that he’d be treated better and found that not to be the case. Based on his comments he seemed dissatisfied at the pace new parts were arriving. At Honda he has probably the strongest factory behind him. I suspect going in he doesn’t expect to be number one against Marquez.i suspect he expects to be listened to more with regards to his needs.

Regardless, given that Lorenzo’s choice was to A) stay at Ducati , B) go to a completely unknown team and ride a bike that is clearly struggling or C) go to a satellite team, WSBK or retire. I don’t think taking 4million euro a year to ride the Honda was a bad choice.

Lorenzo isn't going to get much more support at Honda. Both Dani and Cal were pretty opposed to the direction Honda was going, which was obviously to suit whatever Marc felt made him faster.

I don't really have a favorite rider, not since Casey left, but I really like Lorenzo so I hope he does well. Should be a really interesting season next year.

More sad for who, do you think?

Great point, never actually thought of it from Jorge's perspective.
I would've loved for him to stick with the Duc, imo it made him a better rider as his ego took a massive hit and he learnt some humility out of it. I think he might gel with the Honda fine especially after coming from a Ducati, all the best to him.
I guess the last high profile rider left is Dani. Suzuki would be great for him imo.

I was reading an article by Carlo Pernot, it was his recap of the Mugello GP. He speculated two things: Lorenzo won because he knew he already had the Yamaha ride and could ride relaxed and that Marquez crashed because he pushed too hard trying to silence the booing. This signing sort of changes the picture a bit. I think Lorenzo won because he always wants to win, but he may have also wanted to remind his new teammate how fast he really is. Marquez obviously knew Lorenzo would be his teammate next year. Perhaps Marquez crashed because he was trying to send a message to Lorenzo as to who the top dog is.

If Lorenzo wins on the Honda, does that make him the only rider to have won a MotoGP race with three different manufacturers ?

rumor is JLO signed for LESS money with honda than yamaha offered him. this is so funny.

yamaha decides to sell t shirts instead of keep the best talent. lots of splaining to do lin jarvis.

i know one t shirt they wont be selling for a while a championship one !!!!!

just for the scorecard.
1. jorge to yamaha 2x FU. first going to ducati now to the satalite team and going to honda for cheaper.
2. Zarco FU im going to KTM
3. Maverick I want out i was promised a competitive bike.
Bwhahahaha

Dovi won 6 races last year and Lorenzo was ...... The Ducati might be the best bike out there at the moment and it's nothing to do with Lorenzo. He's known for not being a development rider as he sets his bikes up in a really weird way that nobody else can use. Hence why he is so reliant on the bike being exactly how he likes it.
Honda will make changes quicker than Ducati though so he might get up to speed in his first season.

so tired of hearing this are you trying to say dovi is better than lorenzo? best bike out there? lets get real here. dovi is almost 6 years in at ducati and has 7 wins; thats 1 a year avg.

it took dovi almost 4 years to win a race it took lorenzo 1.5

dovi got to ducati in 2013 no wiins
2014 no wins
2015 no wins
2016 1 win in sepang end of season
2017 6 wins.

jorge 2017 no wins
2018 not even half way 1 win.
rest doesnt matter as they wont support him and he doesnt care.

further dovi 6 wins means nothing as maverick was sabataged after winning and nobody was left to win except marquez who had 3 dnfs and he still lost by 30 plus points. further in another 3 years if jorge was to stay are you saying he couldnt get 7 total wins i think he could

dovi was a fluke as shown now by what he is doing and thats nothing

@motogpmart on Twitter: Championship points since end 2009 to end 2017: Rossi - 1849, Pedrosa - 1913. During this period Rossi has finished ahead of Pedrosa in the championship on 3 occasions. Pedrosa ahead of Rossi 5 times.

Matthew Birt on Twitter: "Got to admire Lorenzo. He stepped into Yamaha as a rookie & took on Rossi in 2008. At that time Rossi was the undisputed king of MotoGP. He's now moving into a team with the modern day king of MotoGP in Marc Marquez. He's not fazed by a challenge"

Not taking anything from Lorenzo, but don't you think he also benefited from all the development done in the previous years not only but also by Dovi?

Do you think if Lorenzo rode the GP13 it would take him only 1.5 years to win?

P.S.: I think Lorenzo is a better rider than Dovi, only with the caveat that he is not so good adapting to different conditions (weather, tyres, setup).
