Lorenzo and Honda Sign 2 Year Deal

If Lorenzo didn’t win Mugello, the headlines would have been Lorenzo replaced by Petrucci since he cannot win on the Duc. Personally, I had a feeling that Ducati was going to drop him anyway because of this, and I think a lot of you guys had this feeling also. Lorenzo played it smart and signed with a factory team knowing in the back of his head that he could be dropped- a 3 time GP champion dropped for a satellite rider. In the meantime, he kept pushing and is able to win the race.

You don’t know what you have until you lose it. This is what I read between the lines from the Ducati Corse leadership.

Yeah.

I think both sides were too uncertain about the future, and neither wanted to risk wasting 2 years in the wrong marriage. There's obviously a lack of chemistry off track or I think he would have been more willing to stick it out.

Everything is easy in retrospect, but let's also not get too ahead of ourselves. He won one race at a track that suits the Ducati better than any other bike. Don't forget his career record there either. It's...impressive. If he was going to win anywhere, it was going to be Mugello.

If he pulls a 2017 Dovi move and nearly or miraculously wins the championship out of nowhere, I'll be as shocked as anyone else. In the end, I think it was the right move at the time and Lorenzo will be fine at Honda. In many ways, he'll be under significantly less pressure to win.

I don’t know if you guys remember back when Rossi was riding the Ducati the then boss of HRC did an interview where he spoke of Rossi/Ducati. It was at the height of Rossi’s frustration with the lack of parts and progress. He went on to say that if it had been Honda, they would have produced 3 or 4 different frames for him to try. I think that is the biggest difference betweeen the two, HRC is a powerhouse and can be a juggernaut when it wants to be.

Not taking anything from Lorenzo, but don't you think he also beneffited from all the development done in the previous years not only but also by Dovi?

Do you think if Lorenzo rode the GP13 it would take him only 1.5 years to win?

P.S.: I think Lorenzo is a better rider than Dovi, only with the caveat that he is not so good adapting to different conditions (weather, tyres, setup).

it could be very possible that jorge benefited from development maybe not. it was a brand new bike to JLO, totally the opposite of what jorge used to win on yamaha (corner entry). he changed his riding style after 10 years to ride the ducati. ducati didnt change the bike. it took jorge 10 years to win 3 titles. took him about a year and a half to win a race. i would argue that it takes more than a year to change a successful approach after 10 years.

all i was saying is the people that say dove won 6 races ok and he had 5 years to do it. jorge didnt.

Noones saying Dovi is a better rider than Lorenzo you need to relax mate !

What did i tell you about JLow. I bet he wished he hadnt jumped the boat too early. Like they say"The grass is always greener on the other side"

Maybe that why he flew to Japan for making some kind of a deal with HRC

Looks like Jorgay has a back up career in the world of bowling !! I'm not sure how Dovi remained so calm, poor dude can't catch a break.

Honda should sign him for the next 10years after the last stunt he made took out four key players out who can challenge Marquez. if he going to continue those moves for Honda thy win.

i cant believe you guys are blaming lorenzo for this crash. it was a racing incident and if anyone should take blame it should be dovi.
1 rossi even when prodded to blame lorenzo he didn't and got mad at the reported said basically stuff happens in racing. classy response by rossi.
2 dovi basically stopped mid corner, Lorenzo grabbed the brakes and went down. Anyone who thinks this was on purpose is an idiot.
3 lorenzo had nowhere to go. Couldn't pickup the bike to miss Dovi because of where Vinales was.

if you are blaming lorenzo you either are a rossi fan or hate marquez

While I don't always agree with Mark. Prob because I am a Rossi fan. LOL!!! I agree with Mark that to much of the blame is going toward Lorenzo. If you race or if you have a basic understanding of how racing works. You would understand that Lorenzo is not there to crash into anyone. He is also not there to get roasted after each race because he is not up there with MM. He is working like mad to be the racer he and everyone knows he can be. I am no fan of Lorenzo. I admire his smooth riding style and amazing cornering speed. But no fan. Dovi who I really like. Really muffed up that turn and left Lorenzo with zero chance of making that turn at that closing rate.

You guys want close racing!!! Well now you have it!!! So stop bitching! This is going to happen once in awhile. It's called racing.

cold tires, first lap, third turn, full fuel tank. he was crashing regardless of what dovi was doing, but I agree its part of racing . IMO >
