1098, 1198, 1199 or 1299 ? I don’t have job making 100k a year but do have enough to purchase something this year. To keep it short an simple, i’m thinking a top of the line 1098, a middle of the road 1198 or a base 1299.
Basically, 1st “if” previous owners were responsible then the bike “should” last quite a while, how many miles is a high mileage ducati ? My Honda had 80k when I sold it and could have done another 20+ no problem.
Then 2nd is aftermarket goodies for the “cool” factor. I’m honest, i’ve got 100k miles of motorcyle under my but but i’m not good enough to use a Duc for what they’re capable of so, the cool look factor is pretty big for me. Look at my honda, I dropped quite a bit of time, effort and some $’s on the looks there too. And my Bandit, which just got back from the dyno btw. The aftermarket goodies make a difference in that I won’t be able to afford so many of’m if I get a 1299. Next is bike durability, maintanence, and generally known issues to deal with having a particular Duc, such as the heat issue of the 1299 rear exhaust header mount area. Others sure just that one comes to mind first.
So yeah, as I read around for pro’s and con’s before I pull the trigger on a purchase being I intend on having this Ducati for roughly 10 years.
