Ducati offers magnesium rims as an upgrade over the stock aluminium ones. Should we buy the magnesium rims as a complete second set for switching or just swap out the rotors, tires ,and bearings to make one set and be done with it?

I’m on the market for wheels now too. I have an “S” model with the forged aluminum wheels which have proven to be solid for the filthy streets splattered with unexpected pothole land mines

the forged magnesium wheels look so great but so do the forged carbon fiber ones. Being that I already have my bike, it’s going to be a complete second set which I’d do if i was ordering the bike. You can always sell your OEM rims down the line

Are these the ones you’re thinking about?

I’m digging these

I've just pre-ordered the streetfighter v4 s. Selling the OEM rotors is an option when my garage is packed as it is. The rims i ordered are m9rs sold at Ducati. Those carbon rims look sweat!

M9rs are like the gold standard. Carbon ones aren’t much lighter. You better post a ton of pix when you get your bike, it’s going to be amazing!

congrats!!!

I'll post picks when it arrives in May. There is a lot more than prices I worry about from a dealership. Sales(the deal), service department, and respect after the sale. That out front, the list on the rims was $5,100. I got a deal of a little more than $4,700 installed.

I have a set of blk M9RS & the stock V4R aluminum ones sitting right next to each other with nothing on them just the wheel itself & every time i pick them up back to back i cant help but to feel a little regret on the M9RS because they both feel very very close in weight.Havent had the opportunity to go back to back on the bike with them to see if i can tell the difference so i cant comment there. I would probaly say its gotta be close to the same.

I suspect there's 5/8th's of FA in it unless youre shaving milliseconds of track times. I went from stock cast Ali to forged rims and that was very noticable, I think you'd need to go carbon to make a significant difference to forged Ali

Even switching from forged to carbon isn't a HUGE difference. Maybe like 2 or 2.5 pounds. The real difference in going to carbon is where the actual weight is. Bulk of the carbon weight is near the hub so while the rotational mass difference isn't anything like going from base wheels to s/r, the feel may be noticeable and that much more of a noticeable difference going from base wheels to carbon.
