nah, just busy...
so yeah, we rode up Thursday, ~500 miles, visited wife's friends in MD, slept over there, then drove over to Gunny's place, drove halfway to SC to pick up the trailer
, bought an adapter for the electrical stuff, drove back to the house, checked out the bike (brrrr, that was cold), runs and sounds nice, but is a completely different riding... higher pegs very light, steering damper not adjusted for my preference, i was happy not to fall over in my first turn
loaded the bike, all the gear that came with it was already in the trailer (warmers, spare tires, stands, chairs, table, etc.)
all for 5 grand, is a pretty good deal. one might be able to find a better deal at fist sight, but that would involve quite some research, shipping and driving, so i must say i am happy about it. i will be very happy when all the papers are clear.
only downturn was the traffic that day, with such a long ride ahead of us, i was not in the best mood when we left the D.C. area in the early afternoon. we finally made it home at around 11.30pm, where i unloaded the bike and put it in the garage (no antifreeze)
Saturday i started taking everything out and sorting stuff, i will put a rack in the front and a proper tire storage solution, and maybe a fridge. ... researching now.
Sunday a friend (WERA novice running a FZR400) came over and we checked it all out, some mods will be done (GP shift, closing slots in bellypan, additional safety wiring, seat support,...), afterwards the trailer got a nice long wash with about half a gallon of simple green.
the trailer is in storage now, the bike is ready to get torn apart and modded - that's half the fun for me and a big part of the excitement before going racing. i need to get to know the bike 100%, and i am excited to get the bike registered and equipped with some simple lights for taking it for a spin up in the mountains to get familiar with it.
so thanks Gunny, and if you ever sell your Tricolore, be sure to hit me up first
