Melted spot on dash

Tiny green diode or light globe

Hey guys, the hole is on the 'inside' and as its developed it didn't get any bigger but the cause became apparent as it burnt' through - there is what looks like a tiny green light bulb or led smack bang in the whole underneath which is clearly heating up even though it isn't lit up.

The hole is above the actual readable area of the screen, looks like it could light up a warning icon but nothing that I can see. Anyway this is already a replacement dash so somewhat frustrating but no question this will be a warranty issue. Taking a pic is tough cause of reflection.

Green light

You can just see the little green led.

Mine happened after it rained and the sun came out directly after. Melted the dash which was replaced under warranty. Odo starts from zero again

I have the same thing but on the upper right. It is not the clear cover but rather underneath.

Could share a pic - it would be great to have another example when I push for the warranty claim.

That is condensation, the spot on mine has burnt through, melting the TFT

Had the same melted spot but on left side of dash. Melted the plastic and bike had only 200 miles. Warranty fixed it though but miles started over. Put 1000 miles on bike since and it hasn't happened again.

Warranty definitely save us but I am just worry down the line in 2 years when/if this occurs again...:(

The radiator on my 1098 burst at the top left mount, a known weak spot, the bike was 4 years old, no problems with Ducati they replaced it FOC, they are really good when it comes to this kind of stuff.

I remember back in the 90's a Honda Fireblade I had, still in warranty when a gear selector shaft shat itself. I brought it to the Honda importer for a warranty repair, they made vailed threats and tried to make me feel they were doing me a big favour honouring the warranty because I had fitted non-standard footpegs (not rearsets, just pegs). They said it may have affected the gear change thus causing the shaft to self destruct. I just stood my ground and they carried out the repairs. Chancers

Better pics

Here is a better pic of the melting spot.

Waiting for a decision on the warranty claim.

Don't take no for an answer - I had the same problem and was able to get mine replaced under warranty. I had the DP smoked sheild.

Ducati have approved the warranty claim, dash is on order....again!

There's a diode that's shat itself under the screen! You can see the little green bugger poking through!

I also have one of these. bigger than that though on top centre of the screen. will post pics tonight. it deffo wasn't there when I first bought the bike...... only noticed it the other night :/

A lot of people with this issue mentionedthe DP windscreen. I went to buy a DP windscreen and my dealer mentioned that it was causing the tft dash display to burn/melt under direct sunlight. I've been covering my dash with a towel while parked outside but now read that its caused by a diode/green led behind the tft screen"¦ I hope this issue is solved.

My bike has spent most of its life in the sun and I haven't boiled the plastic on the dash. The dash is heating up from the inside.

kind of old post but my screen has condensation and Burnt mark also
top left corner

also DP screen
happen after DP screen install so i curios if its the DP screen

will post later. good to keep this up as most new owners will need to know this is common
