Just got these installed on the bike from what I can tell it hasn't messed up my traction control but haven't ridden it hard enough to know for sure. They feel super sticky and have very fast turn in. Much better than the super corsas.

Take it to a track day, set up a dash cam, watch the video and report back about the DTC response :p

...please.

Been leaning towards Dunlop Q2 as replacement but thinking about the Power 3. Would like to hear more once you've had a chance to put some more time/distance on them.
Main interest is in how they affect handling/ corner turn-in.

How many balance weights do you have on there?

Ugh...Everyday i read different stuff about this ....... topic :(. Can we come to a middle ground of some sort? One person says---"Bad for DTC!", another says---"My .... is chill, no worries". I get more and more confused with this issue as the days go on.

Its not that its bad for the DTC, its just going to send the wrong data and potentially make it activate too often. The tire is a different physical size than Pirelli so its going to throw off the DTC calculations.

I agree on the middle ground thing.. Having a 200/55 tire isn't going to make you a better rider. I'm a good rider but ill never take advantage of what the 1199 could do. If you can't keep your bike under control even if the traction control isn't working properly then u should ride something that you can. I'm won't be sucked into paying twice as much for a tire which really isn't going to make much more of a difference unless I was at a pro riding level. I know some wont agree with me and I'm not saying your wrong either. Everyone has their own opinion and riding style.

good post.

it's good to hear / read about people trying different tires on this bike.

But, i have to say other than price, I just don't understand how don't like the super corsas.

track and street for me w/ them and I just can't find a reason to hate on em.

I definetly don't hate them they are great tires but twice the price great? Not really.. Especially having to change them every 1500 to 1800 miles. There are so many good tires out there to choose from just depends what you like riding on the best.

1500 to 1800 miles on the stock tires is really low. I'm at double that with 2 track days as well and I've got at least 1 more track day left in them. What kinds of pressures have you been running with them.

I've switched all of my bikes over to the Pirelli's. I'm getting the same kind of wear of them as I was getting with bridgestones. I typically replace 3 rears for every front.

I had also tried Dunlops on my R1/R6 and hated the damm things. They are supposed to be better now I just cant see wasting money on trying them.

Ya ive never been a fan of the bridgestones either. Im running around 32 in the front and 34 in the rear.. The Pirellis are great tires. Just not my cup of tea. Im a Michelin guy. To each his own

Dunlop making ...... tires is a thing of a past, many will agree. Q2s and N-Tecs dominate the street/track duties, even more popular nowadays than Michelin due to quality of grip/wear/price. I had a bad wreck due to D207s (old heads will remember this tire), then had a run in with a Qualifier on my '08 R6 and didn't care for it. However, last summer I was talked into finally trying out a Q2s for my '05 Gixxer 1K and it was a jaw dropping experience everytime I got to the twisties. Q2s are just superb in every aspect, absolutely no faults to that tire. True confidence inspiring tire, had me taking all types of unnecessary risks all due to me trusting it. Trust me when i say this, they are not a waste of money at all nowadays. With that said, I am probably going to extend a middle finger to SPs price tag and opt for 200/50 Q2.

Disclaimer---*I know it is a cool story and I have a little bit time so I can tell it again if need be* :D

^ I will agree that Q2s are awesome. I've run them at our local track, Laguna Seca and Phillip Island - no complaints. That they're affordable is just the icing on the cake. For street/twisties laced with some track days, they're hard to fault.
