Are you saying the U.S. 1299 is limited to ~180 rwhp and the European bikes are not?
All the dyno results I have seen from US 1299's are in the 182-185 RWHP range, so it can't be restricted to 180 HP, can it?

Another mystery that needs to be investigated...

fzr1000098 yes.. Thank US DOT for that..

Shilling It is restricted..

This wouldn't surprise me actually. The chart posted for the 2015R looks like it has a HUGE hole right in the EPA region. I'm sure someone will get into the ECU and figure it out. The 2014 R has a bunch of throttle restrictions with the RBW, similar to an R6, but it makes full power up top.

Is there a new superstock ECU that's a ton cheaper with all the new racing rules? Would be interesting to see the throttle tables compared to stock.

I guess we will have to figure out how to de-restrict it, or can that only be done using the full Akra system from Ducati and the upmap? Or will RapidBike maybe have a solution? It's not like we need more power anyway, but it is always nice to have the bike run correctly and with no limits. the way Ducati intended.

Cheers and thanks for the information.

We'll wait for the dyno tests but rapidbike only and stock exhaust can be expected to net maybe 10 hp?

177hp is actually pretty disappointing considering that isn't much more than the 1199. Pretty garbage imo actually. I would hope a ECU reflash is available. They have an extra 300cc's and they can't make more power than BMW's 999cc inline?

Ducati should just ditch the twin, its clear they are just getting diminishing returns on it now. 1285ccs and .... all to show for it. Its not even more powerful than the 1199R which has 100 less cc's. Sorry if I seem mad, I'm passionate and want to see Ducati on top.

Once again it's not just the peak number (and torque matters as well) but most 1299s are putting down more than that anyway. So much more to a bike than peak hp numbers, and believe me 180 is plenty for the street

The 300 cc's are not the point. An engine is an air pump and there are different ways to get more air through it. Most 1000cc fours do it with a lot more rpm's. The Ducati does it with displacement. Why don't you rag on the four cylinder bikes for not having the torque at 6-7000 rpm that the Ducati has?

these dyno results should have you jumping for joy . it puts ducati in the top position power to weight not to mention its a twin that will eat them for lunch in a real race or real trackway down the straight of your local track.
the dyno results and the better handling show us what a awesome bike we have.
YOU've been duped into believing 200hp motors are going to put up 200 hp results on a dyno . sorry to inform you dyno's are never accurate from one to another they are only good for comparing one bike to another on the same day etc etc .
and there is some loss to the rear wheel crank hp vs rear wheel hp .
these results are simply amazing 177 hp for a sport bike is very very good. If you think otherwise you need a reality check .

Yup. Exactly.

For anyone who looks at the spec sheet from Ducati and compares it to a dyno print out, Google "drivetrain loss" [emoji23]

i can't believe we still have riders thinking that the manu's published "crank" hp numbers are the same as what's produced at the local dyno at the rear wheel... exact same peeps boasting, "yeah, i went one-eighty-five on the highway", without being asked... heh

secretfish is keyboard racing, he doesn't own a bike and is a new rider - he would be peeing his pants riding a 1299 ;)

I just can't stand watching videos from SR or Motorcyclist...Whoever host's they .... is just horrible. I can never get smooth playback.. why in the world don't they just host their .... on youtube like everyone else...

Couple of things - change out the chain and sprockets for a 520(lighter), the effect of high pressure air into the intakes will make a difference. Remove the pipe and get a Akra

This isnt directed towards anyone particular but some of you should put the magazines down and stop bench racing. 99% of the users on this forum can not use the full potential of this bike. A few extra hp and smoothing of the torque curve isn't going to make you a superstar with *bedazzled* leathers.

... Are you sure I won't get the *bedazzled* leathers...? That's really the only reason I do things to my bike...:D
