Motorcyclist Comparison

I always get excited by things like this and then I'm totally disappointed when the results aren't what you'd expect.

The new 1299S has wheelie control, more HP and more torque compared to my stock 14R and I did 10.1 on my second run down the strip after owning it for a week. So a decent rider should have been faster than my run on that bike after 2-3 attempts at it. All those results say to me is the better rider won the race and had nothing to do with the bike.

I've dragged 14S1000RR and 15S1000RRs and beaten all of them. Only time I've ever been beaten by anyone in a drag race on the 14R on the street or the strip was by a turboed 12Busa and an Australian Superbike racer on his ZX10R race bike, both at the strip and their bikes were both faster and they were both better riders than me.

YOU've been duped into believing 200hp motors are going to put up 200 hp results on a dyno . sorry to inform you dyno's are never accurate from one to another they are only good for comparing one bike to another on the same day etc etc .
and there is some loss to the rear wheel crank hp vs rear wheel hp .
these results are simply amazing 177 hp for a sport bike is very very good. If you think otherwise you need a reality check.

Of course I understand what you're saying, but this still looks pretty damn impressive to me......

That dyno is reading high or that particular R has damn near no drive train loss... The dyno numbers are fun but the real point is to dial in your bike. Just a "dyno run" with no tuning seems to be nothing more than bragging rights.

The Superleggera puts 193 and 94 down in comparison

That's my point, the new R has the SL engine, possibly a couple of improvements! Like I said, it's impressive...... out of the crate too........give or take a few ponies though.

Knew it was a monster!!! :D

No doubt it's a freaking beast. I just don't think you're going to get 200 to the wheel with just an exhaust and mild tune although I'd be happy to be proven wrong. These are great machines.

My 1198 might not have 200 hp at crank but crack the throttle at 3000 rpm and she up on her way to a 12 "0" clock wheelie ! Lol and stretches my arms I come to realize it's plenty and not get caught up buying new bikes for top hp numbers it will never end .
