Maybe somebody else had this issue as well (I thought I read about it in this forum). If you have a CF or ceramic heat shield installed, it might happen that you loose one or even all mountings screw while riding.

I guess this is basically due to mechanical movements caused by temperature changes and vibration.

I do not want to thighten these screws very strongly, because they easiely destroy the shield. So I decided for a different approach: changed two standard screws on the lathe and took steel springs to mount the shield in a flexible way. Since then I never lost a screw again and the shield stays were it belongs :)

Nice creative thinking.

Is the CF installed over the steel stock one or in place of? And is it holding up to the heat?

it appears to be the Ilmberger one, that is solo...

like the idea!

The thing you see on the pictures is actually not CF but ceramics. It's a replacement of the OEM steel heat shield.

The reason for installation for me was less heat shielding, more a question of weight and design. The good thing about ceramic is that it wont get destroyed or discolored like CF from heat. Disadvantage: it's very brittle. One has to be a bit careful during installation.

Due to the fact that I commute a lot whit the Pani, I'll stick to Phl's motto: "heat? what heat?"
