Hey all!

I'm going to potentially pick up a 1299s this weekend. I'm a mod whore... Just call it what it is. What are some must have's on this bike?

Some thoughts already
  • Exhaust
  • Rearsets
  • Few dry carbon bits
  • Clear bra
  • Flash
  • Re-spring the bike for my weight

Anything else that stands out? How's the stock gearing?

Yes all the above.

Add to your list
Throttle spacers
Some kind of tune.. flash or piggyback system

-DP seat bc the stock seat is sloped towards the tank and the DP seat is flatter but taller.
-tank grips

Rider coaching

Akra pipes (full system + upmap) have been my most enjoyable upgrade. Highly recommended if you are able to foot the bill.

Tank grips have been probably the most practical upgrade.

SL hand grips are also highly recommended over stock.

I'm not sold on the whole throttle spacers hype, personally.

No helmet law here. Too hot for "gear" here. I've always put tank grips on my bike, didnt have it listed. I can't find rider coach services that specifically train around dragging elbows and knee's... When I do, I take them.

Not sure I'd want to be "dragging elbows and knees" without gear.

I live in TX, I'm pretty sure it gets a bit warmer than DC. You'll never catch me without the bare minimum, helmet, gloves, boots. Add a jacket for anything more than running to the store.

Coming off of this guy.

Wearing protective gear isn't about your skill level as much as it is about other drivers/riders stupidity. Better safe than sorry. Why the no helmet law even exists in any place in this world is beyond me. One of the dumbest laws out there.

Must have mods? Nothing is really must have but if you modding the bike is inevitable, then maybe you need to lengthen that mod list especially if your current list consists of cosmetic changes like carbon.

Don't forget to remove the rings if you are not going to wear gloves

Think I would have BST carbon wheels ahead of the Akra.

Seems to make plenty enough noise and power as it is. For me anyway
