So after a hell of a lot of staring and admiring of this bike for quite some time now I'm finally a very proud owner of a 1299S :) My first thoughts and impressions are just unbelievable, it truly is an amazing motorcycle. My last bike was a 1994 Yamaha YZF750 and after 18 years of not riding or owning a bike, at the age of 41 I thought it was my time. It took some work to convince my wife and 3 kids to let the process happen as Perth hasn't been kind to a lot of motorcyclists over the past few years. So with a promise from myself to my family to respect the road and respect the bike yesterday morning my wife surprised me with an 3 day early birthday present. By far the coolest birthday present i've ever had. What else can I say Happy Days !!!

Congrats and Enjoy
I am old (code for experienced :)...) enough to have been around when the YZF750 was around and I liked it very much..

Enjoy your new machine, its en entirely different world. I took my "new" 1199 out yesterday and in spite of owning 2 998s about 12 years ago, the 1199 feels like a bike from a different century..

welcome to the club

Nice work Bonz, I'm the same, first Ducati at 46, it is worlds apart from what I had before, great fun, enjoy.

Cheers
JT

Forget the bike....the wife is the real star here.

Does she have single sisters? Wish I had a wife to do things like that for me. Darn....that would mean I'd have to get married and leave the single life. Hmmm....Can't even remember the last time I got a bday gift, let alone one of this magnitude.

A very kind lady.
Would be judicious to enrol on advanced motorcycle course. You are in a high risk category ie. Return to biking. It's a fun course to do I am sure you would enjoy it

Stay safe and enjoy

That's true love when the better half back up your hobbies because they know what it means to you ! Some (better halfs) fight the hobby and feel threaten by the passion and love ! Cool your wife realizes it's a different love ! My wife backs me up or I wouldn't have a wife period !

You are one LUCKY guy!

I wish my wife could be as understanding and giving! And not just take take take..

Great purchase btw, 1299S is full of technological wizardry.

I thought I had a cool misses... She does not hinder my hobbies at all... BUT she cant hold a candle next to yours man.. CONGRATS on the new bike, but more congrats on having found such an amazing wife who knows what you like and is not afraid to get it for you. All around great story!
