Also - get the DP lower radiator guard at minimum to keep rocks from damaging your radiator

Order a new oil filter (K&N is fine) and change the oil at 150 miles, believe me it will be time!

Might I ask why the first oil change so early? I've seen some recommendations for doing so and some for waiting until 600 miles. Is it solely for particles in the engine?

Congrats on your new 1299 and first Ducati.

New Rage Cycles makes a fender eliminator kit that a lot of us like on here, there is also a discount code if you search the thread.

The code isn't working :/ I'll give them a call first thing Monday morning!

I think that's the one I'm ordering...fairly easy to install correct? Should I order it from them directly?

I just ordered mine, and it's the cleanest looking option out. I was a bit worried when I saw double sided tape and such, but apparently the bolts that you use negate the tape altogether.

The install looks like about a 10 minute job after printing the instructions and going out to the bike and looking over what needs to be done. This was also confirmed by 80Shilling in his thread about it.

As for ordering, definitely order from them directly. They shipped mine in like 3 hours after I ordered.

Side note: the kits originally had 2 bolts that were too short, and 2 that were 2 long. This has been rectified and all the kits being shipped out have been swapped with correct lengths. The owner sends an email confirming that your order has shipped (and thanking you for your business)... I replied to the email asking about the bolts and he got right back explaining that the kits have been changed.

Cheers

Get the break in crud, assembly lube etc out of your engine early, use a standard petroleum oil until at least 500 miles or so

My vote is to keep the stock fender on :)

It doesn't look butchered up that way.

On the contrary, you won't have the Starship Enterprise hanging off the back of your bike... Only looks butchered if you do some sort of DIY hack-job with parts all crooked and wires hanging out or whatever.

Exactly - rear end looks so much cleaner without that bean stalk hanging off the rear, also makes the bike look smaller

The NRC turn signals almost look factory, I like it

NRC tidy tail ordered...

Any recommendations on new grips? Pops doesn't like stock grips much with the humidity down here in Miami. He also thinks they're thin and too hard.

Just my opinion... Everyone prefers a different look. With the fender it covers the top of the tire all the way back. With the tidy tail the rear tire sticks out past the rear cowl. I just don't like that look. I kept the fender on my 1198.
Without it is had the look of the brothers riding Busa's with a extended swingarm out way past the tail of the bike :)

Extended swingarms are from the ghetto, this is nothing like that - sexy tail showing off that big rear rubber

Some like the peace of mind of an extra early oil change(myself included), but it is not necessary. Nothing wrong at all in waiting until 600 miles.

Also no need to wait for synthetic. Unless I am mistaken, it is factory filled with synthetic oil.

And welcome to the "Panigale" fraternity. All the same here whether you have a base, S, R, SL, Tri, Senna, 1199, 1299 etc.

Factory fill is not full synthetic

No stalk here

Agreed. Absolute visual preference. No functionality or performance enhancement. The stock ones isn't as hideous as some, but I think cleaning up that single-sided swingarm is a must.

Even if you purposely tried to make the bike hideous, you'd still have the sexiest bike on the road.

Thanks - no plans for exhaust this year, need to get better with this bike before I ask for any more power

I used to live in MI

Congrat's Indy and welcome to the brotherhood of Italian Stallions. You have made a good purchase and you will love every minute of it. Njoy in the land of the Bikini's and the nice ..........:)
