Ok since I got my panigale last year I'm being looking for the perfect seat, So far this is my conclusion.
Ducati comfort seat: it has more grip but it will change you body position, very comfortable around the city but I just don't like it at the track.

Ducati race seat: almost the same as the comfort seat just not that hight, still I don't like it at the track.

luimoto seat cover: very good to ride with jeans around town, same body position as the stock, but again not enough grip at the track with leather.

the only one I'm missing to try it is the one on the 1199r , my dream seat is the superpole seat from the 1198 (.... I miss that seat ), so I call my friend who is a professional upholstry to find a way to make my stock seat better. he find me a thick pieces of leather suede to be exact 4mm thick and he make me a new seat cover with the stock seat, now this seat it has a lot grip with leather or jeans, same seat hight and body position.
oh the best part, It only cost me $125

I was looking at the 899 but is $200, I took the bike for a ride this morning and the seat is doing his job, it feel like you seating on sand paper. I wish ducati make the superpole seat for the panigale.
next week I'm going to the track let see how the seat perform.

I've ran through most seats and I'm running the 899 seat right now however Houston Suoerbikes has a few I've been looking at, here's one

RaceSeats Ducati 1199 899 Panigale "Competition Line" Seat

that seat look good just a littler higher than the stock, good price too but I think this seat is going to react like the old neoprene seat from the 1098 ( cracking and peeling off)

Note: "Competition" seat is created for racing use and is much more resistant than neoprene seats, although this material has a best grip and wear resistance for the best feeling on the motorbike. The "competition" concept is to give the best performance and grip on the track, some little cracks could appear after usage, hot weather condition and sun' ray, that do not compromise the seat usability and quality, so this can not be considered a seat damage and it is not covered from our warrantee.

Ya they have another one available, that looked close to a super pole seat and have a ton of grip. As long as it has the grip I can get over other things.

The only thing that will give you real grip is foam rubber. Buy the simplest AM race seat (for example Sebimoto) without anything on it, buy 10 or 15 mm foam rubber and glue it on. As simple as that!

I was in the impression that you need a race tail to put a seat make out foam

That is sweet. A race tail panel, without replacing the entire tail.

Wonder if they're available in the USA?

The attached pic is the best I have now. But here you can see it looks quite ok.
I just glued the foam rubber on and shaped it with grinding paper. You can give it any form you want. And I can assure you, that you will not be able to move your arse.

bike look good, so you just need a racing tail to do this? my bike is 50% track/street

The base of the seat like mounting is the same as OEM. So as I see it, you can keep all as it is and only change out the seat itself. I will be in workshop with the bike on Friday. I will make some clearer pics then.

I really don't know what the hell Ducati was thinking when they used the material they did for the 1199 seat. slipperiest material ever. im going to have mine covered in 4mm suede for sure :). thanks!

ok so far 300 miles and the seat is perfect, I try it with jeans a lot grip you don't move at all, with leather the same and with textile pants same result. the seat dont show sign of wear and because is a tick material it help with the heat (oh .... I said it) never mind no heat:D
