Its not a car, dont blip the throttle. The whole point of that is eliminated in the settings of the bike. You can reduce engine braking in there. I have never heard of anyone blipping the throttle on a motorcycle. Maybe is my Motocross background but I love down shifting and having the engine cause a nice trail brake and then lean and back on the gas.

I know I'm new at this... but this was exactly my face when I read that comment as well....

Engine braking is WAY smoother when rev matching, slipper clutch helps I am sure, but when I was first trying to rev match (not very well) the bike definitely felt uncomfortable when I either did not rev it enough, or revved it too much. This was at low speed.... 30-40kph and I am sure it would even feel more uncomfortable at higher speeds.

My question was about rev matching AND braking at the same time... I have tried keeping pinky and ring finger on the throttle and using pointer and middle for grabbing the brake, this feels most comfortable but like I said, hand size could be an issue as it is a bit of a stretch. Can you move DP levers closer to the grips?

I can't believe at only 5'7 you aren't bitching about the seat height of the bike and not being on your tip toes.

It's not really tip toes. I can get the balls of my feet on the ground but that's about it. The 848/1198 I was almost tip toeing because the seat was wider. I have a 32" inseam so it could be worse....

Sorry but there is absolutely no need for it. There is tons and tons of info to support this. You want to do it and feel like you are doing something. .. go for it. As for me talking about trailing into a corner, this ist nothow I ride all the time. my good friend is a very good racer, I ran this by him thinking maybe I was about to learn something new. Nope, he said no need for it on the 1199 and in 90% of riding situations. Sorry this sounds ridiculous to me. Do you also manual shift your automatic?

Wait I will agree it is smoother. But thats not my I got a super bike. ....

Yes you need to blip the throttle even with EBC set to 3. Well I mean if you don't you will upset the chassis and cause the rear tire to squirm and chirp. The fastest and best way is to blip especially on corner entry.

Race mode

Wait till you put it in race mode! I've done 2 trips to Germany and France now and I feel very safe and stable at 170MPH plus. Race mode is what I ride every day now! This bike is awsum so enjoy!

No doubt...I was surprised given that it has EBC and a slipper clutch how much the rear fishtails on changing down hard...but I have kinda gotten to the point where i enjoy that... this is street not track...Fyi...:)

On the track yes, and racers do trail brake. I'm not going to run around with this. If you want to then go for it but do you need to to stop smooth... hell no. Im done with it though.

No I get what you are trying to say.

Stw, in my own defense I , coming from off road background, am very comfortable with this. This is the trail brake I was talking about.

It's an opinion, based on someone else's opinion, based on riding style. Do what you do, I do what I'm smoothest doing. I'd rather not slam it down, it also sets you up to keep the RPMS up for quicker accel and smoother throttle through corner after you trail.

Bottom line is do what you're most comfortable with. I've seen far too many AMA bikes with auto-blippers to believe that either.

Not the input you were particularly looking for but a number on here have recommended slow down and be careful out there. And those chicken strips...forget about it! At one time, years ago, they were bragging rights for me too, but shouldn't have been. Totally meaningless. Totally unimportant. Get some track instruction and experience if you want to go fast, which is a load of fun and why many, if not most of us have these things. Those strips will disappear in a hurry. The track experience could save your life. Really...

I guess what started this all is the op stating he was having trouble with blipping and stopping.

But well said

I'm only 5ft 5in and you don't hear me complaining about the seat height LOL, if I had one of those DP comfort seats then you most probably would have by now as I would have needed platform shoes just to keep the Pani up right when stopped LOL.

Why does this thread scare the hell out of me?

+1

I don,t know what the OP is talking about with this downshifting stuff. You brake and drop down thru the gears - simple.

Mate take it easy or I can see another 135mph wheelie to death coming.

BTW the lumimoto seat does not come with GEL built in ....you need to fit it yourself or perhaps find someone who can do it for you.

Good luck.

Hey Carl you forgot to add the Titanium coloured CNC reservoir covers your wife bought for you on Ebay into your signature block.:D

We don't need to know your inseam mate.
