New 2022 V4S with WRONG FORK

When you say smoother I assume you mean it produces less vibration?

Because in terms of power delivery there’ll be very little discernible difference as proven by Ricks dynos… just a shift in power band.

What my graph didn't show, unfortunately, was the much lower torque of the R. And it's the torque that really effects the delivery. My 1103 bike is on the TC so much, and the 1000, barely at all. And due to the TC, I feel like they ride very similarly, if at different revs.

I find the R more visceral and intoxicating, and the motors equally smooth (V4 bro).

Being that power is just a multiplication of torque and revs your torque curves will mirror your power curves as well.

The fact that the TC is on a lot more is relatable though as the torque is being applied at lower speeds.

The R needs 2000 more revs, throughout the rev range, to equal the 1103 power output. Yep, power is (revs x torque)/5252, and this aligns with the higher torque output of the 1103 :)

This is also why the R gearing is different to the 1100 .. and not applicable/ transferable…

Think the tc was kicking in more b/c you were on slicks?

I use the same spec tyres on both, so don't think so. I think, it's the higher torque output. But, I do have a different shock in each bike, so, could be that too (although, I don't believe so)?

Have you did any time attacks back to back? Which one turned out to be faster?

There's nothing in it! I haven't done direct back to back sessions, but I have ridden them both at the same circuit (on different days).
In similar conditions, I rode the V4R at Oulton Park last year, and managed a 1:43.3. But, I had the swingarm pivot in the same position as the non R pre 2022 bikes. And, I was also having a problem with the fork damping.
I've just finished a race weekend at the same circuit, and was riding the 2022 bike. In practice, I did a 1:43.7. So, very close.
In the race I went faster, but comparing race times, to trackday or test day times, isn't fair. Your mindset isn't the same.

The non R will be easier to do faster lap times on for amateur riders as the increase in torque will partially make up for the lack of corner speed they carry.

The electronics should take care of power management, that's what they are there for.

All in all I think a non R will produce faster lap times with ~90% of riders.

agreed, and that’s why I didn’t get the R, figured I’d get faster sooner on the non R model as a novice rider….that’s what I thought before I did a single track day, now that I have just barely enough laps in to have an idea of what it takes to get one of these bikes around the course quicker I’m not so sure….the 1103 especially how I have the sprockets set up is a beast for a novice to try to learn Corning throttle control etc

Hey all, new to Ducati and recently picked up a 22 V4S. I was just finishing up a ride on the trainer in the garage and was a bit delirious afterward. I was staring off into space and it hit me like a ton of bricks! MY NEW BIKE HAS THE WRONG FORK ON IT!!! My bike has the older Ohlins forks off the previous generation V4 and not the NPX 25/30 gas-charged fork. Has this ever happened to anyone???

(Not sure why it’s flipping my photos upside down)

At first I thought I was taking crazy pills but then looked at a photo the dealer sent.

I’m super upset with myself for not catching it before taking ownership of the bike. But glad I caught it now. Anyone have any contacts at Ducati NA that can help resolve this? Hoping this doesn’t turn into a nightmare. Also how did this escape Ducati QC???

How new is your bike? What month was it manufactured? Mine was manufactured Jan 22. I have the correct forks

Hey moor, same. Jan 2022. Just have 140 mi on the bike but love it. Use it to commute into work and plan to do 2-3 trackdays a year on it. Up/down quick shifter is so good. And the DES is great so far despite having the wrong fork.

My last 4 on vin is 0611, what is yours? I have 90 miles on mine. Picked mine up March 18.
