So I decided after many many years of riding non-sport bikes to return to my roots.... last time I owned a sport bike was a CBR about 15 years ago!

I most recently rode the BMW R1200R and a K1600GTL (giant bike!)...

I was looking at the new S1000RR, but with the long wait for the new model I decided (big mistake for my checkbook).. to look at Ducati.. I fell in love with the Speciale with the Akrapovic pipes.. I test rode a regular V4 and was instantly in love.. looks and rides better than the S1000RR... I take delivery in 5 days and can't wait.

Any new Ducati owner advice welcome... Should I spend the money on the dealer maintenance package? $2600 for 6 services or 3 years... or should I find an independent shop in the SF Area to service my bike?

Congratulations on the new purchase. The Speciale is a stunning bike!

I personally would only take my bike to get serviced at a Ducati dealer, but that is mainly because of getting the "Ducati" stamps in my service book and for resale purposes.
