New Exhaust

I don't buy those numbers.

That is tune dependent.

And tuning a stock system could see what 3-7hp?

Those are Zard's claims/numbers, not mine, haha.

I don't think those were their peak HP numbers either. If I recall, because I can't find their graph, it's only like 5 peak hp gain. Their big HP and TQ gains come in the dead spot in the 1199's powerband. I haven't seen one in person, nor have I seem a dyno run in person either.

Looks can be deceiving, and that does not even have looks.

Is the so called torque hole slowing you down?

Have you tried the full termi with up map on 195 hi ?

no because i have full akra and custom tune ;) which actually address the torque hole issue rather than a band-aid fix of termi and up-map.

also it isn't about "slowing me down" it is about getting more linear power and being able to roll on the throttle and have torque rather than waiting for the rpm to hit 6,000rpm

Hey! Those guys didn't steal from Erik Buell and claim it as their own design!

I wouldn't call the termi a band aid ;)

In all humor, when im on the pipe im almost never below 6k :D

very happy with the termi and its performance.

The Panigale's exhaust design is plain stupid as far as power is concerned and I think ZARD's claims are quite believable.

Not arguing that.

But again, you have to tune the 20 HP in at a great $ cost, adding the ugly pipe will not give you 20 alone. Thus its not a valid or credible claim is it?

It's all dependent on how they present it. If their marketing communications say that their product with proper fuel tuning can give a 20 hp boost somewhere along the powerband, then that could be credible. Given the different approach they have taken with their piping design, it seems quite plausible.

With just my RapidBike Race module I gained 10+ in the midrange over the Termi slip-on map, so with their full system I could see it.

I agree it goes against the mass-centralization design of the 1199, and its design seems to be for those who are nostalgic for the previous Ducati Superbike exhaust layouts. However, I doubt most people would be able to feel the difference about 8 pounds of plumbing positioned higher up would make. Much more polar moment of inertia is reduced with lighter wheels and has a drastically larger affect on steering weight at speed than where you put the exhaust.

I'm somewhat intrigued, especially at the newer price, but it looks like it would burn the paint right off the tail section, not to mention make the bike even more uncomfortable with under-butt/leg heat.

.

That's my point in total.

I was generous with 3-7 ;)

10HP tune for 20 total, places the ugly hot pipe HP output at 10HP.

not to mention make the bike even more uncomfortable with under-butt/leg heat

Stock mine was way to hot to ride in the summer.

with the termi and new CF heat shield plus wrapping the rear section, I no longer have any heat issue.

Agreed, and they may have it somewhere on their site. But posted here in the forum folks just see that 20 and get all excited over a number.

Might was well sell austins stats too :D

Ok you win, but with the added tuning their claim is quite credible when compared with a tuned standard system.

What I like is the termi comes in a package that is roughly 15Hp.

Looks decent.
has upmap key.
can be cooler then stock.
fixes midrange hole.

Sorry man, don't mean to keep pressing, but that zard is ugly, hot, and expensive and really no better then a termi, other then a straighter run which may have a unnoticeable amount of improvement, at the cost of all the negative things mentioned.

Pass, but its my personal opinion only.

Zard generally doesn't make anything that doesn't perform. I suspect they are attacking the exhaust flow problem much like Termignoni is with the forward exiting exhausts on their new model. Ironic that they went to an "old" style to fix it on the new bike. Who knows, Ducati is doing everything they can to get weight to the back of the bike in WSBK, it may even help slightly in that regard.

That said..........It's still pretty ugly :p

Wrong thread mrs. Anderson, you're late to the party.

This is about the zard system.

The new termignoni have been discussed quite a bit. Click search ;)

Lol. This is soooo funny. I believe ZARD's claims and the biggest gains would be in its mid range, but then what would I know? We all know ZARD is actually a little backwards shop in Siberia with no experience and credibility hey Outhouse while you are the man, just as your name says. :D

Didn't realise they face the opposite way. Look shitAm I getting confused or is the outlet on the front instead of the back?

I don't think carbon is a particularly beautiful material in itself, I like the look of nice metal and high quality welds, especially when it has the blue colour that the exhausts get

After reading this I want to see what your first post was. Was it as good as this ?

HAHA!show me a dyno graph where the termi fixes the mid-range torque hole with just the termi and up-map installed?

your statement that Zard is ulgy: is just personally preference
your statement that Zard is hot : how would you know have you ridden a 1199 with the zard system?
your statement that Zard is expensive: is incorrect it is far cheaper than a full akrapovic system and at 2.5k is about an average price for a 1199 exhaust
your statement that Zard is no better than termi: is again incorrect have you ridden both a 1199 with a zard and termi system? have you seen read world dyno results from both system?

The MAIN issue with the exhaust system on the 1199 is the fact that it loops around on itself in the exhaust can, if you know anything about fluid mechanics and flow modelling you would know this is extremely poor design. having a straight design like Zard eliminate this problem, allowing the exhaust to flow alot better, i would not be surprise if there claim 20hp is in fact real, seeing as i gain 14rwhp from akrapovic system and full tune.

Oh and the termi up-map is a band-aid fix, it is a generic tune which gives little gain and in some cases actually makes the bike worst! There is NO substitute for a full custom tune

Ok I'm just trolling here but Jesus I wouldn't take "fluid mechanics" advice from a post with this many spelling errors. Flames fanned... Continue.

haha, Maths > English ;)

because i can't be ...... explaining it myself i show pretty pictuers

Fig. 3 presents velocity vectors along the vertical symmetry plane for pipeline bend (radius of curvature/diameter) R/D = 1.5. The left-to-right flow of the bend has a gas bulk velocity, vb, of 20 m/sec. The velocity contours show flow accelerating close to the inner wall as it enters the pipeline bend due to the favorable pressure gradient at that part of the wall, while it decelerates at the outer wall due to the adverse pressure gradient. This behavior starts to reverse after the bend midpoint, i.e., at a 45° plane. This centrifugal effect causes the particles to partly concentrate closer to the outer wall (Fig. 4).

To Summaries having less bends = a good thing. You will find this is one of the MAIN reason Termi redesign there exhaust system to have the outlet at the front of the exhaust rather than the rear
