Been filling 1199 waiting time buying new gear, as most of its 5-years old.

Got to the point where my wife was pretty sick of Anthony's detailed breakdowns, but I found him more interesting that half the tut I get tortured with on a daily basis :p

So, I would appreciate your comments/thoughts on the following, considering that I road ride all year round in temperatures between 15-30C for 7-months, then 30-40C for 5-months of summer:

1) Helmet - Currently an RX7 Corsair pretty close to expiry date. Thinking about an AGV GP-Tech, if not an RX7-GP. I needed to up pad sizes in the RX7 and still need to check AGV fit. Anyone gone between the two?

2) Boots - something pretty light, maybe Dainese Dyno Naked or Short-Shift? Gotta have something thats gonna flow air, since cold feet won't be an issue.

Already managed to sort some these.....

Now I'm not normally a "merchandise'ed up guy", but got this VR jacket...

And since I lack imagination, this on order...

Damn expensive waiting for a bike:rolleyes:

I have both. The AGV GP tech and Arai. I like both, but Arai a bit more comfort. Depends on the head of someone. My boots are Sidi Vortice. Suit Dainese Ducati Corse 2010 or jacket Ducati corse leather/fabrice.

Ill be getting the new ducati corse jacket from dainese, and a new Arai Nicky 3 stars corsair v helmet...Kinda matchy matchy but oh well lol

i have an AGV gp-tech and dont like it, noisey and poorly put together in comparison to a shoei or arai.
Got me some Spyke 1 peice leathers which are really comfortable and are well ventilated.
Had alpinestars SUPERTECH BOOTS but didnt like the fit so i bought some spyke race boots and there very comfortable and again well ventilated.

i've had 2 gp techs now, loved them....i reckon they're better than arai and shoei

That dainese leather 46 jacket is SCHWEEEET !!!!!

im probably is the black ship of this Thread, but i want to try out RS Taichi this season,

I also ordered up a shitstorm, figured it was time for new gear.

Alpinestar two piece suit, plain black.
Alpinestar under suit
Alpinestar textile pants
Alpinestar summer gloves
Dainese Goretex spring/fall gloves
Sidi ST Boots

Thinking about getting the new Rossi AGV G-Tech helmet as well.

helmet for me:

also thought about the gp-tech, but the reviews lead me to bell. was tempted by the rossi design, but ended up a litte further out the box ;-)

and this one for my lady:

might get some new boots, and a new back protector (my old dainese has protected me too often now, time for a new one...)

Yeah, my '08 1KRR was stolen so I sold all my gear and started fresh. All my gear is sitting in boxes at home since I'm in afghanistan, but I went all out!

AGV GP-Tech fell through and to be honest, I wasn't 100% sure that it was the best helmet for me.

Both L+XL share the same shell and I was pretty comfortable in either - WTF????

At least with Arai, XL is a bigger shell, than I can pad out a bit, whereas an L won't even go over my bonce!

Update, since the new kit is in and the temperatures rising...

1) VR46 tex jacket - Lightweight and comfy but flows very little air and has no vents. xbox rating 6/10

2) VR46 leather jacket - Knocked on the head in favour of a Dainese perf and vented leather race jacket, which I believe will flow more air and offer better protection.

3) Town boots - Got these Dainese Short Shift.
Very lightweight and comfy, reasonable levels of protection, great air-flow. xbox rating 9/10

4) Gloves - Good feel, lightweight, some air-flow, good protection. xbox rating 8/10

I find what you say funny because i did the exact same thing. While i was waiting for the bike i couldnt just wait doing nothing so i bought gear. As a big fan of arai helmets i of course wanted the helmet on the 1199 book but that was 900 bucks so i went with the suomy wall st design. I must say better then my previous arai rx7 coursair and my shoei rf1000. very comfortable and fits my head perfect. I then purchased the mx1 alpinestars leather jacket. I got it on close out like 275 bucks size 60 so i saved lots there. it retails for 599 and lowest ive seen it for was 399 but riders discount had it for 275 or so i forgot. I also bought the alpinestars stunt jacket for the hotter weather and a pair of gloves alpinestars gp plus gloves. they gave me more money off when i called because i bought all the products at once. all in i paid a little over 500 bucks for the 2 jackets and the gloves and 475 for the spec 1r helmet. So in my mind the gear was free because i was going to spend 900 for the helmet (love my reasoning). The gloves are too hot for 80 temps so i bought the alpinestars thunder air for summer riding also. The company's i buy from are riders discounts, compacc, and revzilla but it seems riders has had the best prices so far.

I love the jacket I'm seeing on here but in the florida heat (summer I'm riding in 90 plus temp and high humidity) it makes these jackets unbearable. Mesh is the only thing I can wear.

I have just got this mesh jacket, going into Europe next week hopefully this will be a lot cooler than last years jacket !!
