Hi there everyone, I am jumping back into the seat of a Ducati... I think. Previously owned an Aprilia RSV4 that caught on fire this past weekend while I was on it. So I am looking at a 2012 1199 Panigale I found with a full Termi system and 3,000 miles. I have not heard much about these bikes from anyone who owns one. Are they troublesome at all? Any issues I will be facing? How is the reliability? Just testing the waters before I jump all the way in.

My bike had a couple bugs fixed on it's first checkup. Since then, it's been as reliable as a Honda.

Before the 1st checkup:

-Right turn signal failed. Fixed under recall, wiring harness replacement.

-One hard start after shutting it down hot. Once it cooled down, it did start eventually. Reflash fixed that. They may have removed my charcoal canister, haven't need to check yet.

-Choppy throttle. Reflash seemed to fix that as well.

-Water Fog in the gauge screen. Was a really humid morning. 1 hour of riding and some time sitting in the sun cleared that up fine. No worries there. Seems normal. Seen plenty of dual sport thumpers do the same thing.

Just got off the rsv4 ... its was a superbe bike... comfy compare to the panigale it ad more low end power and less top end power .... its a very nice bike to ride but for me it was the dealer and the time it takes to have parts... i have waited 8 month for valve shims( WTF )... that as done it for me but the rsv4 is one ekkk of a bike

but im suprised about the Panigale S... its a piece of art and you just cant drive it slow
it gets to you very fast and all you body wants more of it...

just keep an open mind when you ll first ride the panigale... it will get to you fast enuff..

but for me,at first the panigale wass very ruff making me regret the aprilia but after the suspenssion and the motor have got a bit loose its now an ammmazing bike...

i did 11500 km from Quebec to BC in 12 days with the panigale with NO PROBLEMS at all

only thing is the paint... i have the mat black and there is lots of chips of paint off the front buble and the low side fairings near the rad... almost getting kinda white..

ho, and the charcoal canister Has to go off... its only trouble

If you like to ride aggressive, you will love the bike.

If you poke around or commute, you will hate it.

Its a race horse, and should be treated as such.

Given the vast resource this forums knowledge base offers I think you should put in some effort and read......:)..
