Hello all. Quite a nice place you have here. I am coming from an RSV4 and Endurance R1 background. I recently fell hard for the 1199 after a test ride. So, the Ape shall be sold while pursuits of an 1199 commence.

That said, I have the opportunity to pick up the full Termignoni exhaust system from a 2013 1199 R.

Is this the same as the 70mm full system that one would purchase from a retailer? Or is it produced to accommodate emissions and sound regulations with catalytic converters and an exhaust butterfly valve?

Thanks for your time! - Seth

PS- Here is the R1 build for anyone interested...

I remember some of that build from the r1 forum SAB but I had a different user name then

Welcome aboard :)

the R manifold is slightly difference/ also different upmap for the R that comes with it.

the regular retail full system is slightly different.

If you have a chance to pick up the R termi system with upmap, that is correct for your bike

Hey Dark! Good to see you! Do you till have your R1?

zohsix, so the full Termi system that came with the 2013 R will not fit a standard or S model?

The upmap key is included, but I was under the impression that it only unlocks the map that is already stored in the ecu of the bike.

The up map USB key that came with the R is only for the R model right? It won't work with an S or Base model I thought? I could be wrong, but I recall reading that.

I was told that the UpMap was basically universal for the 1199.

We have has some in the past that said the R key is specific to an R

It only unlocks the maps already stored on the bike.

Lucky the OP is buying an R exhaust to put on his R bike.

If you click on the "fits on" link on the page you provided, you will see the R is not on there ;)

VIA a conversation I had with Ferracci awhile back about this the 1199 1199r and 1199S have the same up map key

I purchased a full termi that came off a 13 R and it worked great on my base. I had my ECU fully flashed, mwr race air filter and the thing breathes fire!!!

Yes the R exhaust fits on the 1199 and S

As far as the upmap key I can't confirm that.

The exhaust fits no problem.

But the 2013 R still has different gearing and a higher rev range so I would be fairly certain the R map would be incorrect for an 1199 and could cause all sorts of fuelling/performance issues. I have seen Up-Map keys for the full system on Ebay now and then or ask your dealer.

I am wondering in general: do you need the up-map even if you dyno the thing with the exhaust system on? In other words: can a sufficiently prepared and capable mechanic with a dyno program the stock ECU?

The upmap is nothing more than a preset map with different Air/Fuel ratios built into it. It isn't anything special. It is nothing different than what Dynojet does with their downloadable maps for random bikes/exhausts.

A competent tuner can dyno tune the bike using something like RapidBike and get the same, and probably better results.

Dyno tunes for a specific bike will always be better than some generic map.

Yes.

If you have the exhaust you should either upmap or program or have programed, new mapping

Hey hey Ara!

Thanks for the replies gentlemen. The bike will be an S, so it looks like the exhaust will be a straight fit. Worst case scenario, I'll just have to source an S key to unlock the map. Thanks again for the info!
