Pelo911, I live in TX also and that is just crazy. How many INS agencies did you go thru. Since your over 25 you shouldn't be paying no amount like that. I pay a little over 1K a yr for mine. Call Geico, Progressive, Farmers, All State, or State Farm. That is Out of This World Crazy. Wow

He called Progressive and Esurance is Allstate.

Allstate have the highest rates on superbikes in the industry.

The salesman most likely called the 1-800 number, got an call center agent, and that person quoted a new policy rate. I would imagine that a majority of the forum members either added the 1199 or switched from another bike. New policies are typically substantially higher because there is no history

But seriously, that must be some sort of error. Otherwise, I don't know who purchases a vehicle without first getting an insurance quote.:eek:

Ha - My Dad did back in 1970 when he bought a GTO, and his company he had used for years refused to insure it.

I never check, if I want something bad enough, I find a way to afford it :D

I was quoted 350 a month for my 899 and even this price was outrageous with me having an endorsement and no tickets or accidents on my record.

You might want to look into Geico...or getting married. As I'm told if i were married my policy would be 120 monthly. Although I'm pretty sure that would be more expensive in the long run hahaha

$234 a year. Just paid it. State Farm. Clean record. 42. years old. $500 deductible comp and collision. 100/300

$857/month even with 0 history it's unreachable. Newbies, new immigrants or whatever it's impossible. The only thing that bumps you up to these kind of prices are violations/tickets. And not one... not two... maybe 10 in a span of 3-5 years.

i have Credit History for around 2 years
score low because it's new , 694
VW approve me to get a loan for the bike , so i don't think it's the credit history issue.

i have Texas Driver licence only for car.
with the CBR1000RR i have , i used my international driver licence
because i have motorcycle licence from age 17.

i'm not sure why it's so expensive
and without showing insurance to VW i can't use the bike :(

i will try to get more quotes.

i'm looking to buy protection/jacket
for the hot Houston summer
do you have any recommendation on brand/model ?

As a few folks have already suggested: Get Motorcycle endorsement for your Texas license... Motorcycle Safety Course will get you that and additional discount from the insurance company...

Yes, do this as all companies look for it. Saved me

Credit history doesn't have .... to do with it. How do I know? Because no way I'd have 100/300/100 coverage for only $800 a year with my ...... 630 credit.
Credit history and credit scorer are two diferent ....!! Even you electric company check you credit, you credit history paint a picture of what type of person are you.

So you wish harm on a fellow forum member because he made a wise/rude comment? You sure make TONS of sense.....

I bet you he won't be insulting the op if he was face to face, it all about respect and a lot people here act like billy bad ass seating at the house.

$540 yr with no down, monthly installments from Geico who I also have two vehicles with. 53 yrs old, luckily no tickets/accidents and single. You should have checked first dude. I would cancle the purchase if you can't get A LOT better quote than that. It isn't worth it and you will end up regretting it,selling the bike and taking a beating on the resale. If you dont have a US motorcycle license, that will hurt you I think. Also, ANY tickets or accidents will kill your rates as well. Single? Another rate booster!

Ah yes, credit history does unfortunately have something to do with it. It affects their companies view of your payment history and can or will affect your payments if you aren't paying up front. Also, and I had a HUGE argument with Progressive over the day I fired them for it, can also alter your rate due as they make assumptions based on national averages of drivers receiving tickets or getting into accidents. Major crap! When they were explaining that to me I went ballistic. In NO way does negative credit affect my abililty to properly drive or ride which is ALL insurance should be based upon. After all, why do you think they ask for your SS# for in the first place? It isn't for identification purpose's. That is in compliance with the law as far as I know. SOrry to rant. It's just a major sore subject for me!

I know this is a sore spot for you duck but negative credit DOES affect your overall driving situation when it comes to insurance. It isnt the final word but with such a diverse and complex scenario this area has turned out to be, your credit is certainly a factor. It doesnt determine has well you can corner or how fast you can go in a straight line but it might tell me if you are likely to run from the police, fib on a claim, or if you might pay an out of town parking ticket. Insurance is a lot more than evaluating ones skills or state compliance; it's all about risk.

Incorrect. I don't remember providing my SSN so unless AAA can look up credit history based on name and DL, credit history doesn't have anything to do with insurance rates. Like I said.....my credit score sucks and while I understand credit score and history are two different things, i still don't see how that factors into my already super cheap rates. Any lower n my insurance would practically be free. $65/mo with my limits and only $100 deductible is nothing.

Ladies... Ladies... You're both pretty.

It depends on the company and their policies to take credit score into account. Rider does not. Progressive does. Dairy Land will give you an option to have it taken into account. If you know its good you can have it work in your favor or opt for a different option (with not as attractive rates but it wont be used against you in the future either).

I have GEICO insurance and it cost me $65.00/ month for full coverage, try them. Just my $.02
