For all you racers or track day warriors (like me)

Have a 22 V4 base

Right now have

OHLINS rear shock TTX
Spark exhaust
Quick change sprocket 520
Air filter
T800 up map
Spider rearsets
High windshield
Tank grips
Pirelli slicks sc1

For my next mod, deciding between

OZ GASS LIGHTWEIGHT WHEELS

OR

OHLINS FRONT FORKS

As it is a base bike it has the normal cast wheels

And the front showa forks, that in my opinion are better than the OHLINS on my old 19 V4S

What do you think will give a more substantial performance increase ?

The stock Showa kit is 100% amazing. I was super impressed, pretty much as good as my through rod Mupo setup. It's only weakness, changing springs is a bit messy. That was my only reason for swapping out. I was four seconds off BSB Superbike lap record at Brands Hatch GP circuit with the stock Showa (different weight springs). I change springs regularly at race weekends, so was only for convenience.

So, I'd go wheels! Chuck some wets on the old wheels 👌

So you think you’re a BSB racer now??? 😂 Do you expect me to believe this hype???

Also by Craig’s standards this is no big deal. Might as well be in a different time zone.

FWIW the WSSP teams run stock cast wheels. I’m pretty sure the V2/V4 cast wheels are actually pretty light. I was looking into a V2 and researching all this stuff and I’m pretty sure the cast wheels are only 3-4 lbs heavier vs forged GASS-R

Well, they don’t feel very diferent to the forged v4s rims, but don’t know about actual weights

Does anyone have this numbers?

The bikes go ok as is, so any upgrades are in the nice to have but not necessary to go fast department until you really are pushing it. How does it feel is the question?

Superdomestique, lmk if you want me to talk you through some of the names, happy to help. That was the first official BSB test of 2017, at Donington Park. I was on a Superstock 1000 Kawasaki ZX10R. Stock 1000 and Superbike were on track at the same time, hence my place in class (PIC) was '1', whilst I was third overall.
Track was very wet tbf, although it felt amazing going around the outside of Glenn Irwin at the Melbourne Loop (he was on the PBM Ducati that season). He came back past me on the start finish, but I got him on the brakes into Redgate (T1), and cleared off 😍
Probably my best ever session on a bike tbf 🤣

I've ridden the forged and cast wheels. Tbf, I couldn't feel the difference 🤷‍♂️
They do look nicer though. And, you can argue, technically they're better 🤣

Talk about riding with a bunch of tossers!!!
Nice times mate, truly good stuff
Also, I had a stock 21 V4 base. Added the forged wheels and it helped but honestly the weak link was the rear shock. The Showa BPF is pretty good
I would get the lightest forged wheels for the money. With a good rear shock and the Showa you will notice the weight difference. Will flick side to side better and
help all around more than just the front fork change I believe...
