I looked.... i really did!

I would have thought this has been covered, but....

Is there a scan tool that will allow me to clear service reminders on the V4-SP?

I have found an "ISCAN" that they say has updated software as of dec/22 so that's one option i have found.

I also have a Multi which i understand uses the 4 pin to OBD2 cable, but i believe the V4 pain is different? there is apparently an adapter that plugs into the diagnostic port? part number 5101F571A

Can someone in the know please tell me what i need for both bikes if you know and where i can get them?

Thanks heaps

Iscan comes with plug for u Multistrada for V4 u have to purchase different connector wire. U can find this easy on Amazon

What year are the bikes? The Panigale uses a flat 4-pin or a square 6-pin depending on the year. If you get the Obdstar iScan Ducati, it will come with a OBD-II to flat 4-pin and a couple of other ones. You can get the 6-pin adapter from Amazon, which is what I did. It resets codes and reads the CAN bus so you can see all of the sensor values in real time.

This is the adapter I bought.

OBD-II to Euro5 6 Pin

Thanks very much for that,
I'll get the ISCAN-Ducati and either the extra lead like you posted or the adapter that Ducati sell 5101F571A once i get a look and see if it's correct.

Yeah as reported, the search function on this forum sadly sucks, invoking many duplicate topics and us not able to find what is already been discussed (often) in similar past topics…

Back on topic and as discussed here: https://ducatiforum.com/t/does-the-v4-have-an-odb2-interface.42454/#post-362312

I use this cable and CANbus dongle for many 2- and 4 wheelers (incl. PV4’18). Combo is able to do what you want. Their OBDlink app for iOS comes with solid support and is very flexible too for advanced use. For example, able to select many/ most PID channels broadcasting on CANbus and exporting that CANdata in realtime for troubleshooting.

Good luck.

Well, the OBD Store cancelled my order claiming it doesn't support a Panigale V4S only a Multi-Strada V4. Any suggestions besides telling them its for a Multi and re-ordering?

My 2021 Euro spec V4-SP has the 6 pin plug and i have been told by the Australian reseller that the IScan does support it, I believe the latest software is needed which you upload from the site when you receive it anyway. If the cable supplied, which is a flat 3 pin is the only issue then the Ducati adapter 5101F571A solves that problem.

I'm ready to order mine from the OBD store in a week or so.

I don't know if I'd pay for or wait for a Ducati specific adapter. The iScan will use a serial to OBD-II as its main connector. I purchased a OBD-II to 6-pin adapter from Amazon instead of using the supplied ODB-II to 4-pin and adding a 4-pin to 6-pin adapter. Adapters on adapters doesn't seem like the best approach.

This is the exact item I bought, but there are cheaper options.

Amazon

Like this one.

Amazon (cheaper)

I bought the Ducati adapter from the dealer who had it in stock, i'm told their service dept use it daily with no problem, the lead that comes with the iScan is an 037 i think?? it's a flat plug designed for the Ducati interface OBD on pre 2021 bikes as a direct plug/play. The adapter for the square type OBD has the same number of pins ( I described it as a 6 pin plug originally as that's how it was explained, even though it's a 6 pin plug only 4 pins are used ) it's the arrangement that's different but if Ducati make the adapter i don't see why it would be incorrect or any less reliable, especially considering i'll be using it once a year, the service centre uses multiple times a day but i have no idea how durable it would be in that environment, maybe they're using it temporarily until Ducati supply the correct lead, dunno.

I also use a program called Forscan with my SUV and there's data rate settings which likely pertain more to diagnostics than turning off service reminders. I think the OBD-II protocol can also see the quality of the data connection on the CAN bus. But, if you aren't having problems, then you aren't having problems. I just prefer less adapters as a means to remove potential failure points. I witnessed a workplace SNAFU in which a lot of workstations were replaced and 4K monitors installed. The adapters, Display Port to HDMI, which a well intentioned person bought .... the bed and it was nothing but issues. This and many prior experiences taught me less adapters equals more better.

The form factor of the red plug on 2021+ bikes has six pin holes, but I think only four are used.

The OBDStar adapter which is OBD-II to 4-pin is M037. I don't know if that's an official standard or merely what OBDStar calls it.

I get it, completely, but for my application i think it will be fine..... until it isn't LOL then i'll buy the specific cable.

I think the M037 is an arrangement code or standard because a mate who owns an independent shop has a TEXA (i think that's what it is), and he mentioned he needs the 037 lead to do my bikes and doesn't have it.

You are correct, the red plug has 6 pin holes, only 4 pins used, Ducati future proofing their loom for further Euro updates and requirements no doubt.

Are you using the iScan with the amazon cable on your V4 with the 6 pin OBD port and it resets the service light and reads codes etc? It won't read your VIN but when you manually select V4S Panigale it works?

Yes, the specific menu option is EU4 Panigale V4.

If you have any connectivity problems, I use Proton VPN (free) and pick a Japanese server on my iPhone then hotspot it to the iScan which connects and updates. I had one problem in which I couldn't update because the iScan was sending unencrypted login info to the mothership and my AT&T Wi-Fi router was blocking it. I'm not a big conspiracy theory anti-China guy, but I wouldn't use a common password.

Just an FYI to anyone looking to buy the OBDStar iScan for their ducati....

I bought one and did what i was shown on their official you tube channel to upload their software, register it etc.... it hasn't worked from day 1. 70+ e-mails and they have not managed to resolve the issue, when i asked for a refund they have stopped returning my e-mails so buyer beware, if you buy one, buy locally from a vendor who offers support, OBDStar themselves in my experience are useless.

I’m using this tool for 3 years now on my 1199 and V4 never had issues.everyone I know who bought this device don’t have problems. Sounds to me like user error.

I had a problem registering it because the firewall built into my WiFi router was blocking it since the device sends the login information without encryption. I eventually saw an alert on my phone from the app for the router. Once I set it to allow it connected. If I had a problem with it connecting I'd do the VPN thing after connecting to a Japanese server.

Beyond that nonsense it's been fine. One of the more recent updates changed the structure of the menus, which was a little annoying.

Mine works perfectly and does exactly what they claim. Pops up all the computers. Has a lot of service functions. Have you found the right path?

Thanks for the replies, user error? no, i don't think so, but..... it's kind of hard to know for sure, because i can't find any definitive instruction or path and they're not very helpful. What is interesting is that it corrupted the ECU in my Diavel, which it says it supports, 30 mins with the battery disconnected fixed that, on my Multi which it also supports it reads the ECU and does everything it should all the way up to clearing the service light, just says action failed, check the device....

I'm sure this thing works for a lot of people, they would have gone bust ages ago if they all fail, i'm not saying they're junk and that they all fail, what i AM saying is beware because if you're unlucky enough to get one that doesn't perform as advertised they are not very helpful, at least in my case, and i thought i'd let others know...

I know this doesn't help you because you are in Australia, but if anyone is in the US DMV area, I bought the dealer scan tool and can clear codes. Just bring me a beer and we can shot the breeze. The dealers around me quoted something astronomical for a simple clearing of the code - of course, the tool cost me $6k, but I bought all the cables so I can service all of my other toys too.
