Anyone here change from the Shell Advance 4T Ultra thats recommended to something else? Reasons?

I personally went for the Motul 300v 15w50 as the techs recommended it. Also seems you can't buy it the Advance 4T Ultra in Australia?!?!?!?

Still using Shell. Worked out well so far as no smoking or any other problem.

Strange you can't get Shell Advance in Aus!!?? Mind you it isn't that widely available here, only a couple of shops keep stock.

yeah can only get the vsx stuff here at the moment...and it seems only ducati stock shell motorcyle oil...

Using Gulf oil. That's what the dealer uses on all Ducatis.

The burn-in was done perfectly. I could clearly feel the different stages through the first 2500 km. A little smoke came out but not mucc and it's all gone now.

Now it's butter-smooth.

Where's the choice "my dealer never put Shell in my 1199"?

They put Mobile 15w50 race synthetic in mine. I'll probably stick with it, since it's easy to find everywhere.

I use RP Max-Cycle 20W-50. I may switch or may not, it's been great so far. Case of 12 QTs for $117 online. Here's why I switched from 15w to 20w-50:

20w50 is suitable from @ 16 ºF to @ 110 ºF 15w50 from @ –5 ºF to @ 85 ºF

It's pretty warm here right now and who's gong to ride a Duc at -5?

Motul 300v 15-50w in mine also . I have had long life from my motocross bikes with it . That's under race conditions , not spode trail riding.

Always motul v300, if a dealer use something else i look for a real dealer somewhere else !

I think fast by ferracci is the only dealer in America with Shell advance 4t oil......you cant buy it from him either....its just a plus you get for using him for your routine services.....proud to say thats my dealer presently

Red Line 10W40 synthetic went in at first service.

Red Line Water Wetter going in at the next oil change or sooner if I track it.

wow I'm kinda surprised but not surprised at the same time....75% (15-5) aren't using the shell stuff! Motul seems to be the favoured on here.

Shell seems hard to find in the USA. I'm not sure what to do. Dealer uses Shell. I want to change at the half way point in miles, but I don't want to mix and match oil. I do get free service (scheduled) for 2 years. My preference would be Mobil1.

Yes you can buy it.
Both grades too.
My dealer just received some in 15w-50 in a 20 litre drum on Thursday, along with the mineral stuff in the same grade.
He sells Advance Ultra 4T in 1 litre and 4 litre bottles.

Blackwoods are the distributors of Shell oil.
I have been able to buy Advance Ultra 4T in both grades by the box full in the past from Blackwoods.

Also Moto National are also a distributor, so any dealers that have an account with them will be able to get all you want. That's where my dealer gets his from.
