Hello All

I am contemplating trading my 1199 R for a Diavel. I really like the looks of the Diavel and so too the R. Diavel is more of a passenger bike which is why this whole contemplation came about.

I just want your opinion and what important factors to take into consideration before I decide to make the jump.

Please advise, and I appreciate your concerns, thoughts, opinions and time.

All the best,

TWR

Only you can decide this.

Do you want to ride long and comfortable 2 up ?

Or

Carve canyons and track days ?

I mostly ride canyons and that's every once in a while. My wife is in the process of being intro'd to riding passenger but she finds the Pani passenger to be quite uncomfortable and painful....Therefore I started to think about the idea of trading in the R for the Diavel. It's a very tough decision simply because the R is such a superb ride.

My opinion- riding 2 up sucks. Don't trade the R, you'll regret it!

Buy a cheap 2 up bike and keep the pani

Great idea:)

That way one has the best of both worlds.

At the end of the day, I would personally consider the Multi a better choice over the Diavel for 2 up riding.

If you really like your R and want to be able to go 2 up you need to get a 2nd bike.
I had a S4RS for that very purpose until my wife was done riding cup cake. :D

Get her a motorcycle of her own.

2-up on a Panigale is for girlfriends, and that even only for short distances. Wives...get a cruiser or get her a bike.

Unless your wife has expressed enthusiasm for riding two up with you, don't buy a machine just with good intentions. They will surely just end in disappointment.
'Been there, done that, won't do it again.

If you're contemplating a change and still want performance in the hills I would suggest a Multistrada...they're awesome!! cake and eat it:D

Amen.... Been there.

The Diavel is a FUN bike, as I put a lot of miles on my brother's bike, but he bought it for the same purpose.

It sits in his garage most days.... Keep the 1199 and get a bike for two ups, if you really feel the need.

Have you ridden a diavel yet?

You will be surprised how well it turns. Only problem is lean clearance!
But that bike is tons of fun!!! And it pulls like crazy!

Hello Guys,

Thanks a lot for the feed back guys I appreciate it.

I have test ridden the Diavel, however it was ages ago when they first released it. I wasn't really impressed with it back then. I need to take the new one for a ride soon to see how it feels.

The second bike sounds like a great idea and a Scrambler looks worth the consideration.

I cannot get over the looks of the Multi, it just doesn't look as sexy as the Diavel.

Riding two up on a sports bike sucks, especially on an R. My girlfriend hates going on the back of my R also, because it's cramped and uncomfortable and she's only 5'3". I'd get a second bike for two up riding only and keep 'your' bike. A diavel isn't going to give you the same feeling the R does. Not many other bikes do.

Several folks have touched on it already......and I personally agree. Having only one bike will be a compromise too much of the time. It took me years and 16 bikes to figure it out. 17, 18 and 19 are currently in the garage. The Pani for heart attack rides, the Multi for 2-up and big miles, and the Supermoto for around town fun/errands/commuting. If you have the means, don't compromise. And good luck with your decision!

I'm having the same problem. Loving the Diavel red carbon. Not mainly because of the passenger issue, but because I just like it as I do my 1199 S. If it doesn't fade away by summer time, I'll add it to my stable and make it Toys2 :). (If nothing comes before that)

Like the saying always goes.
You can't get away with just 1 bike.
