i canceled the 1199 as well , couldn't see the point in spending that type on money on a road bike that half of it would end up in the bin anyway by the time it got to the track . so i have brought a ex full factory honda CBR 1000 race bike with everything on it and 200 HP at the rear wheel .
I have had the base models of the 888, 916.and 996. Reasoning was simple, could not afford more. Now that I can afford the S, the upgrades included on it more than justify the extra $. I have ridden race bikes with Ohlins forks. I have upgraded my bikes with lighter wheels. I like carbon. I love the electronic damping aspect of the S. I also tour on my bike so the wider fairing will also help. 5k is cheap for all of these cutting edge trick upgrades.
I don't care if delivery is late. I intend to keep this bike for a long time.
All of my base models were more than adequate but this new 1199 will be safer, faster and more comfortable than any of the previous models.
All of the pre release hype has been backed up by the best reviews on a sport bike in decades. It's a great time to be a Ducatisti.
