Ordered a HP4

not a fan of the s1000rr, but its a killer bike. have ridden it quite extensively but it doesn't do it for me. No soul. . . performance wise - possibly even better than the pani's.

In terms of bmw and pani - one is torquey and an v-twin. Other is a smooth inline 4. So different bikes outside of them both being superbike. . .

My pref toward an i4 - leans more to an MV Agusta, but thats just me. As I said - its a killer performing bike, just not for me.

+1 not a big fan, I ride the s1000rr bike quite often also. My buddy has one but I can't get over the asymmetric look and design. Its the ugliest looking superbike out there is in my opinion. It looks like everything was just slapped on as an after thought. No passion with the design (looks) as the Italians do or the Japanes for that matter. Where the Germans seems to focus is on the engine and performance because the engine is a monster, handling is excellent, ergos good but the Bike has its quirks too as they all do. Only if the Germans could put some passion in the looks then it would be an awesome bike. Would I own an HP4? Hell yea!

Congrats!

Awesome bike, performance-wise.
One ugly duckling, considering BMW can turn out some classy coupes.

But congrats, keen to hear reports from an owner with plenty of K's clicked over

congrats.. the HP4 is still likely to be thè bike to beat. but i just can't/couldn't have such a quasimodo standing around... :) but that's me..

what would bug me also is that having 2 such equally high spec performers, time on both would be so limited it would take away huge amounts of time to get to know either one of them well.. with the difference just confusing the view..

like doing 10 laps on a 458 scuderia and then the next 10 laps on a GT2RS.. you'll waste 5 laps each just getting used to the difference..

A little like getting to know how awesome a standard 1199 R would be but altering it for bragging rights it's a shame you never get to enjoy the bike as Ducati intended .
Two different bikes both fantastic in their own rights for different reasons . It's nice to have choices .

whats wrong with two hot chicks - oh I mean bikes that want to be ridden. Part of the great joy of these bikes is "getting to know them". It's like the "chase" in a new relationship (though I don't know about that now since being married for quite awhile :). But I do see your point that getting to "really know a bike" you get to know the deeper meaning and understanding of the other. . . but I wouldn't discount the initial feeling of the romance either.

Congrats man! I actually just picked up my HP4 2 weeks ago. Weather in MD hasnt been the best but I got a chance to take her out the other day for a 20 mile ride and I love the bike already!

Congrats!

I have them both, as well. Great, great bikes. I love them both for very different reasons.

HP4 - Not has heavy as a base S1000RR, but heavier than the panigale. Does everything great. Very planted & it's easier to push this bike harder.

1199 - Much more aggressive and brutal than the HP4.

While they are both liter bikes, they are completely different and you really can't compare the two. I enjoy them both in very different ways.

Trust me you will be very happy with both & make sure you get the comp model, more $, but so worth it.

Mine is sitting at the dealer. I take delivery Monday.

When I got my '11 s1000rr I still had an '06 CBR600 F4i. And never rode it until I was forced to due to a lowside. That month taught me I'd never own 2 sport bikes at the same time again. They were too similar despite the displacement differences. And one bike would do something better than the other and just frustrate me. For example braking was 1000% better on the s1k, to the point of old fears of being unable to stop in time started to creep in. But I knew for a fact my F4i's brakes we in perfect condition

Next bike will most likely be a V-Rod :D

I still have my HP35 that I got when I graduated prep school. Even though a few years older, I am guessing the HP4 can't do cosigns or square roots.

I have an HP 17BII around here somewhere. God I miss reverse Polish notation!

Good to hear! I upgraded the 12C sometime ago, and run it as this app on my iPhone - my 13 year old said "Polish what?" oh well...

OMG, there's an app for that? No more $18 worth of watch batteries every time I want to use it.

I absolutely love the.v-rod.y sporty throaty cruiser desire being satisfied best in that particular model. Lives then enough to own two of them.

Only thing I would be careful is - once you are used to riding sport bikes - you have to be careful with the v- rod. Any decent lean angle will scrape the exhaust (Vance Hines 2-1 competition is killer) - and potentially dangerous as you might lift your rear into a low side. So just be careful and know the limits going right on a vrod.

Yup, and it looks and works exactly like the 12C. And you know, this discussion is as related to the 1199 as an HP4 :D

Go...on.. we all know that the HP4/Panigale can be compared much like the original Calc and the App.
