Out-the-Door Price

It was $495 for "freight" and $250 for "prep". Biggest fee was vehicle tax for $1,917. The other big one was "license fees" for $242.

Thanks Theefiveoh. I'm surprised that my dealer would mark-up the freight. Hopefully, the amount they told me ($895) was just an estimate and that they will only charge me the actual amount. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

$27,220 OTD for 1199S w/ ABS at Hattar Motorsports in the San Francisco Bay Area. In California, we pay all our taxes/license/plate fees at the dealership. Don't have to deal with the DMV until renewal.

Can people say wth they're paying in reference to MSRP not out the door?

This is f-ing pointless since taxes, doc fee's, and plates are different in every state, county, etc etc...

I just want to know what you're paying in reference to MSRP and what additional (non state) fee's they are or aren't charging (ie - prep, transport fee's etc)...

Thanks

i have my paper work Base no abs out the door $18,000 , i will have to pay the taxes when i bring it back to Chicago since i'm buying it from Wisconsin ... he is hooking me up ... no frieght no set up fees ...just straight out the door price cash money

Not at all pointless. It helps seeing what other guys in my state are paying.

What is everyone paying in reference to MSRP? That's easy--MSRP. Setup and Freight are going to vary from one location to another, as it is simply more expensive to operate a Ducati dealer out of Beverly Hills than it is in Portland. Freight, too, can vary depending on how many ships/trains/planes/trucks are needed to haul the bike from the port to the dealer. $495/$495 is probably a very fair rate, though.

NO, NO, NO... You clearly don't know what you're talking about.

Freight is the same nationwide, PERIOD! The manufacturer averages the cost to transport vehicles to all dealers nationwide and its a flat fee. They have to because they're contracted to give ALL dealers no competitive advantage over another. Same for cars, same for TV sets, same for every other dumb product freighted from over sea's (I hope we got this out of the f-ing way)...

If you want to know what the OTD price then you all should be posting what your local taxes, documentation, license and title fee's are as well.

Clearly my point is "ARE PEOPLE PAYING MSRP, LESS THAN MSRP, MORE THAN MSRP"... Its much more difficult to calculate that with an OTD price from state to state, county to county tax etc...

Sheeeesh, is this a difficult concept to understand???

Did not know that about freight. Thanks for explaining. No need to be so agitated, though, dude. Chill, chill, chill. Also, keep in mind what the title of the thread is. Might explain why so many people are posting OTD prices. ;)

AntiHero - you're right.... (breath-------breath) lol. I think it would have been better to know what are people paying in reference to the MSRP. I hear people paying over MSRP and was wondering if anyone got a deal "under" MSRP ;)

zaster, are you sure its not de-zaster? lol

I'm just trying to give this forum a reason, a structure, and actual purpose... I have my S coming either way but if you're not concerned about being taken advantage of and educated about a purchase, you must buy a lot of .... from QVC right?

Sorry I'm not an impulse buyer, hence I hate QVC.
If this bike is what you ultimatly desire, get your best deal at your dealer and don't try to second guess your desicion. Enjoy!!!!!

@mitchlguzin, if freight costs are set by the manufacturer, why am I and Duck8 not paying them . . . ? Call both dealers in S.Carolina, and you won't have to pay freight. I've read in other places what've you stated, i.e. freight costs are set by the manufacturer, amortized, and passed along to the dealer as a charge separate from the bike itself and passed along to the consumer. But, in light of the evidence (I can promise you, I am not paying freight), that doesn't seem true. Although it could be attributed to state regulations possibly. I didn't research that further since I got what I wanted, no freight and only a $95 set up fee.

The only real way to know was if one or several of the dealers would chime in, but I find that unlikely. As dealers that charge the fee aren't gonna want to defend it when other dealers aren't charging it. And the dealers that are not charging it probably might not want to upset those dealers that do charge freight (which I suspect is virtually all of them). But I challenge you @mitchlguzin to call an SC dealer and find out for yourself if in fact freight are required. They simply are not, at least in every state.

And I agree 100% with AntiHero, no one is gonna get a break on the MSRP so that's a moot question. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that someone paid over. We will likely never know that either, as who in their right mind would admit to it on this forum.

Alright, let me break this down so that I'm crystal clear. YOU ARE PAYING SHIPPING...its built into the MSRP. I hope thats clear enough for you and everyone else on here... If you think you're lucky and the dealer is just covering that charge you're ignorant.

2nd, some people have already commented on here that the dealer is charging MSRP + shipping + $95 prep (I've heard as much as $495 prep fee). If thats the case (which it is) people ARE claiming they're being charged over MSRP but what people on here are too dumb to understand or comprehend is the dealer is masking it as some ........ fee... (breath....paperbag....breath)

Am I the only one on this forum not smoking dope tonight? Come on guys, I hope you're better than this...

So you want everyone to define OTD as any dealer collected fees, that go to the dealer. Corollary: if my dealer collects DMV fees, that wouldn't count as part of the OTD price, am I understanding you correctly? And somewhere in that price, in the MSRP, the freight cost is hidden.

So by that way of thinking, we're all paying each others and our own freight, and a lot people on here (not me), are also paying for some other mystical freight fee, which ends up in the dealers pocket. Is that right?

If that's your point, it's pretty useless on this thread, as the original question was asked to find out if all dealers were charging what I was being quoted before I put down a deposit. The responses I received made me look to other dealers, that weren't charging the BS fees like set-up fee for over $100, and freight (which I guess is extraneous according to you), and other BS. So it accomplished it's goal--I found a dealer who is selling me what I want for $18,887 out the door, with taxes and titling paid for too. Bottom line, I was asking what people were having to pay to get the f'in bike out of the dealership, just like the title says. If the cost is hidden in another cost, that's unimportant since it's not reflected on the sales contract I'm gonna sign, and won't affect how much money is forked over on the day of the sale. If it's hidden, it can't be negotiated.

So....the question is how much are you paying for:

1) The bike (I think this will be MSRP for most of us...but maybe not);

2) Freight (if any); and

3) Dealer Prep Fees (if any).

I'm not going to sweat a few hundred dollars of freight or setup when the real rape comes in the form of CA State Tax and DMV fees.
