Panigale Crash Damage - Same as any other bike?

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

Lowsided mine at about 30mph in a lefthand hairpin; broken shifter, scraped lever, bar end and footpeg. Small scratch on the middle fairing that was easily removed with some light buffing.

Crashes pretty well IMO

What did you use to buff the scratch? I have a light one from someone getting to close to my bike awhile back. I have used Marguiar's Cleaner Wax in the past.

Use 3M miracle hand glaze. If its a bad scratch use 3M Finessett and then Miracle Hand Glaze. Works great

That's the stuff. Finessit will leave fine scratches and the hand glaze will remove them. Don't bare down too hard. Let the chemical do the work.

I have one small scratch on the seat cowl so I think I'll try the hand glaze first and then escalate to the finessit followed by hand glaze if the hand glaze by itself doesn't get it out.

Thanks for the pointers!

A buddy of mine runs a detailing shop, no idea of how and with what he did it....sorry.

I have a couple hairline ones there as well, didn't quite raise my leg high enough in the early days of ownership :(

What side did it fall on on, and what brand sliders, and what positions did it hit? (f/r) I dislocated an arm many, many years back in a bike wreck. It came out multiple times after that for various reasons, I had to learn to pop it back in myself - ouchers!

Even though it was my left shoulder ( was jerked left) the bike fell on the right side. It landed flat but the R&G sldiers on the handle bar kept it barely lifted so that the paint didn't even get scratched. Sorry to hear that. It does indeed leave a sore shoulder for weeks!

What was the contact point in the rear?

Foot peg and I also put R&G sliders on both the front and rear axle. They helped from more damage and the insurance also replaced all of them in the adjustment.

Here is what they look like on the bike. I'm still not sold that they are the best looking thing around but I know for sure they work.

Hah - that's exactly what I did and not the first bike I have done it to. *sigh* Maybe I need to work on my yoga a bit more.

Here are the conditions of my 'accident':
~2mph coasting in the dark with engine/lights off (it was midnight on a weekday in an alley surrounded by homes/apts. in Montreal and I was being considerate)
Left hand not on the handlebar (fishing for garage remote)
Chunk of embedded concrete

You can guess what happened....hit the concrete with only one hand on the clip ons, the bike stopped and started dropping. I held it as best as I could, but it hit the pavement and rested there for a second while I figured out how to best lift her.

When I got the Pani up and into the light the only damage was the small nub on the clutch lever and a broken high beam switch. THAT WAS IT! Un friggin believable. Not a scratch on the swingarm, not a scratch on the tank, not a mark on the fairings or tail or rear shock. ??? Another guy I met in Minneapolis dropped his and the same invisible force field protected his bike. I still can't figure this out. (Btw I do have the rear passenger pegs on the bike....)

Quote started coming in today for repairs on my bike which I crashed on the 1st of January. What seemed minor damaged, now turns out to be not so minor.

Price is up to $10,000.00+ (NZD) which could increase even more since it look like the right front shock assembly will need replacing as well.

additional items which were not immediately clear was the triple clamp on the fork was cracked, handle bar on right bent, right side exhaust silencer damaged underneath..

Insurance guys are very good and really moving things along fast but still seems Ill be off the bike for at least 4 weeks while they get all the parts ordered.

Very painful.

paint protection film

Hey, can you tell us more about the paint protection film? Is it bike specific? Where do we get it?
