Panigale Fault RECORD

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

This is NOT a thread you should be concerned with if you are a potential buyer. Most of the comments on here are ......., moans, and comlaints from guys with no real experience. If you want a good review and list of potential issues, go talk to a dealership/shop that has their 1199 race bike on display. They are the ones that put these bikes thru their paces, not the guy with the Tricolor who only rides it to bike nights at Starbucks. If someone is so concerned with issues that they need a fault forum to dictate a purchase, they have two clear options: Get the extended warranty or go with one of the "Big 4".

I'll agree with this to a degree. I currently have a very modded 06 R1, but am looking at a Pani in the future. However, I do TONS of research before I get invested into something; be it good or bad. I really like hearing ALL sides of the story. Any relevant information is good information. Not to make it sound bad, but all of the bad things that have happened to others help prevent it from happening to me. I would know to check these certain things or I would have VERY specific issues to bring up to my dealership to make sure they check on before they become catastrophic issues. My two pennies :)

Noticed my screen fogged up today plus had some funny spots on it - rang the dealer " never heard of that before" - Frasers Sydney = B**Sh*t :) Have to ride it over next week and they will inspect

Had my TRI when they first launched in 2012, done two trips around Europe, one with a pillion, plenty of miles arond the UK and a few track days and no issues, have had my 1098R since 2010 and also been to Europe and on track, slight issue with snatching on the slipper clucth fixed under warranty, had an 1198S for a while as well, again no issues.

Find my Ducati's have been as reliable as any of the other lads bikes only a lot better to ride and to look at IMHO ? My best best biking nate had half a day on my Panigale and has just traded his S1000R for the Pani R ? guess there is good and bad in any bike ?

I don't see what the problem is with this thread. I am a prospective buyer, and a thread like this is exactly what I'm looking for. I want a quick summary of all the problems that have popped up. I'd like to know what I'm getting involved with if I were to buy a new bike or a used bike. If there's something that catches my eye, I'll research it further to see how serious or not it is.

Most every other forum centred around a bike or car that I've participated in (and that's been a lot) have had a thread like this. Often it forms the basis for a mechanical diagnostics/help FAQ.

And I've got to say, the problems popping up for the 1199 look pretty tame. No one is talking about blown engines, cracked cylinder heads, or grenaded transmissions. The few dashes with the melted cases is a little concerning, but nothing else I wouldn't be willing to live with.

I don't think you guys need to hide this collected information from anyone.

Trans was right it was a .... thread to start with. No use trying to rehash old issues. It only took a couple of posts for this issues to get confusing. See the comments re swing arm bolts. That particular problem will not even exist any more so how does it help prospective buyers.

I have to clean mine after a hard blast, lube the chain and oh fill up with gas. That's sucks. Maybe Audi can sort out my problems!

That's it.
I'm definitely ditching mine now.
No body told me about this stuff when I bought it.

For what it costs, it's not good value. AT ALL.

I've only just found out about having to set up the suspension, in order to optimise the bike for my weight and personal requirements:(
There's also something about the gearing being wrong as well, that I don't understand:confused:
To make matters worse that Checkmate video didn't show anything about the tyres going flat on the bottom.
For what this bike costs, you would think that DUCATI could see to it that they only go flat on the top of the tyres, so you can keep riding when the air leaks out:(

I should've bought a HP4:mad:
Now I'm too heavily invested in this thing to sell it as I'll take a big hit on the resale value:mad:

What are the applicable lemon laws here in OZ?

Going flat? Hell, for what we pay for these, they could at least mount wheels that didn't leak air. Cheap ass Ducati. Can't even make a wheel that will hold air. Pure Junk. :)

First day of almost-Spring here. Took the Pani out and rode 80mi in 55-60F sun. Awesome time until I noticed the dash fogging so bad I couldn't read gear or speed unless there was a direct shadow over the dash like from my helmet. Seemed to go away as I rode home in the warmer part of the day. This is the coldest weather I've ever taken the Pani out in since I got it in July, so I guess I'm going to read a fuckton of foggy dash threads and learn more before making a stink over this. If it only does this in sub-60F weather then fine.

It seems to be a normal occurrence.

This happens when the heat from the electronics inside the dash makes the moisture in the cold air condense on the "inside of the cover over the screen".
It doesn't appear, to actually be inside the TFT part of the display. Otherwise it would take days/weeks for it to completely evaporate;)
Also I suspect that it happens as the sun warms the cover over TFT screen of the dash as you ride along.
It can happen at random depending on the climatic conditions.
I have had it happen on mine, after the bike was parked in an air conditioned room, then it occurs within minutes of being moved out into the sun.
After a while it evaporates away. As you have already observed.
The fogging clears from the left hand side of the dash, and the last area to clear is the bit over the gear indicator.

If you want to claim warranty you will need photographic proof, and or the dealer will have to physically see it for confirmation.
However, I think they've stopped doing warranty on the fogging dashes a long while ago:(

mine has never done this...QUESTION, i was riding once when it was damp and 30 degrees out, and my dash kept flashing "ICE" with a little snowflake icon on the bottom left. what does this mean? what is it letting me know exactly?

This makes total sense. Bike's in the garage today (colder outside even) with no condensation in the dash at all.
