Panigale or Zx10r

Panigales are a bit like Supermodels, beautiful, temperamental, higher maintenance, the envy of everyone you meet. If your lucky you will even get your own haters! There are several better all around bikes out there but once you join the ranks of Ducati ownership I doubt you will ever go back. If it's all about the numbers you are missing the point. This is about reaching a goal in your life! You probably won't ever own a Ferrari but you can own its motorcycle equivalent. Think you will ever meet the head of Kawasaki? Think you will ever see him at an event? Talk to him about your bike? Get invited to Japan to celebrate your passion for the brand? That's what Ducati ownership is about, passion for all things motorcycle! That's all they build!

Man no love for the zx10 here....

I've had both the pani (my current ride) and a zx10 (2012 model).

Both are great....either one is a luxury in life and to have one at all is more than a lot of folks can afford or have.

Having said that....I have more fun on the panigale. It's prettier and the twin is just more fun to ride IMO. However, after 2500 miles here comes the oil leak. Argggg. It's always something with Italian bikes.

My zx may not have looked as pretty (but I still liked the looks), but not one problem with it. It's surely not boring by any means....but it just doesnt' do what the duc does for me for some reason.

Either way you win..both good bikes! Look who's leading in WSBK right now and last year.

Upgraded from a 2013 ZX10 to a 1199 last year. Did everything I could to the Kwaka, Full Akra exhaust etc. had a great pop on the deceleration, but that was the only time it felt cool. The Pannigale has been the best bike I have ever owned apart from the Ducatisms that come with it (hard starting, bleeding clutches)

I bought a Ducati because I thought I would become part of a passionate family. I had a rude awakening when I got screwed by Porsche SA and Ducati Italy with the underhanded unilateral disenfranchisement of the previous independent dealers/importers and with the loss of my service plan.
To crown it all I was insulted and deceived by Gerhardo Mornini of Ducati Italy at the Ducati Dream Day 2014 in South Africa at Kyalami.
I still enjoy my Tricolore but the pride of ownership was severely tarnished and diminished after all of the above and I will never, ever buy another Ducati, except if Ducati Italy sets rght what they set wrong.

Very well said!

No passion in jap bikes... just like everyone else said.. without drama life gets boring.

For example..The bimmer does a lot of things better than the Pani.. but looks like .. lol. No words to describe it.. The moment you lay your eyes on the Pani... all else looks mediocre.

No passion in jap bikes...

Maybe lately, but if bikes like the RC30, OWO1, ZX7RR and other homologation specials start coming back because of the 2015-on WSBK rules, I could certainly be tempted to jump ship.

I liked looking at my 1199S in the garage more than my ZX-14R. I like riding the ZX-14R more than the 1199S. I have had a couple of ZX-10R's and they are not boring. They just don't have the low end like the Ducs. I have also had an S1000RR, 1198, Diavel, ZX-12R, RC-51, M109R, etc. All different, but had their good points and bad points.

Take both bikes for a test ride to determine which one is best for you. Don't worry about what others think.

whatever the f@#$k you want to buy - its you buying not us :)

Actually - buy a scooter

That's true of Japanese cars and bikes.... hopefully they fix that...

I would totally get a R6 as a dedicated trackbike if i had more garage space. and the R1, the big bang crossplane crank it's all smiles, the bike could lose a few pounds though. there are some passion in the big 4s, no ... though, just dry humping
