Panigale or Zx10r

The ZX 10 is a bad ass bike specially for the price point It has a powerful motor once you get all that emission stuff off of it and remap it. Its easy to ride for day to day commutes. Steering and handling is not as sharp as the 1199. I think the ZX-10 is the best Japanese bike out there right now Kawa is the only Japanese manufacture that is trying to update their bikes not like Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki who haven't changes a thing in the past 8 years or so besides paint scheme and a head light change. The ZX10 is pushing the European bikes (1199, RSV4, HP4, S1000RR) it still comes up short compared to the European bikes. Throw some exotic Ohlin forks, Ohlin rear suspension, Ohlin steering dampener and light weight forged aluminum wheels and its price point will be the same as the european bikes which already comes with exotic stuff.

among the Japanese bikes, it is only Kawasaki which really invested on electronics and performance on its bike. The Honda cbr has been unchanged since 2008 while the r1 has been the same since 2009 with the addition of a few electronic aids. I am not familiar with Suzuki.

If you have to ask which one to get either the zx10 or the Kawa, I think you are better of with Kawasaki. in the straitline it is a lot faster too.

I have ridden both bikes and I can honestly say that the Panigale Handles better and it is a lot lighter. I just do not get it how come they are winning in world superstock while getting their ass kicked in wsbk

The bike simply doesn't adapt well to Superbike rules. Full superbikes bear little in common with the bikes they are based on. The Superstock bikes basically have a gasket to bump compression a tiny bit and the engine blueprinted. As close as you are going to get to it's road-going brethren.

Hey guys... I'd like your advice too while we're at it.

Ferrari 599 GTO or a Nissan GTR?

What cha guys think?

For track or club racing, not too many Ninja's on the grid, where I am.

Why get a Kawi when you can a Yamaha or a Honda if you really must get the biggest bang? not to mention Kawi's are not for being the most "reliable"

Huh? I see more of the new Zx10's club racing than R1's and CBR1000rr's combined. Both of which are massively slower than the Kawi, though the CBR has a really friendly chassis IMHO.

Plenty of 10R's at WERA and CCS races. The FIM Superstock 1000 class is almost all Panigale and 10R's.

club racing: kawi's are cheaper to crash, to set up properly and to work on, right?

lil different in superstock...

1199's sound better WOT down the main straight :D

Certainly cheaper to club race a Ninja compared to a Duc. 1199 sounds better even at idle!

When you pull up the Superstock riders it shows 14 ZX-10's, 6 1199R, 4 BMW, and 2 Honda's (I am not sure if there are other riders racing in Superstock and not listed on the site)..

The Pani R is doing well so far this season and leading in points... I find this promising that the "R" riders are doing well and leading in pts considering there is a 2+ to 1 advantage of Kawa - Ducati riders... I believe BMW pulled out of Superstock this year which is why there is not that many racing....

SBK < Riders 2014

:D

Ferrari 599 GTO or a Nissan 370Z?

What cha guys think?

I think this could apply well as an analogy to the original question. Instead of the 370Z, it should be Ferrari 599 GTO vs. Nissan GT-R Track. Depending upon the track, the GT-R is faster and of course less than half the price of the 599 GTO.

Here is a more empirical test result about the 1199S vs. ZX-10R. Adam Waheed is likely faster than anybody on this forum. For sure Chris Siglin is. Here are their best laps in the 2012 mega-test of Superbikes:

2012 Superbike Smackdown IX Track Conclusion - Motorcycle USA

9 test riders participated in the test, including an AMA Pro Thunder Champion Ducati Racer, and not one of them chose the 1199 for either racing or track days in the summary. Hope that doesn't break some thin-skinned hearts around here.

I love my 1199, but I still like and respect the Gen 4 ZX-10R. It would be great to have one as a second/track bike, as some here obviously do.

Unfortunately, the data your showing above is dated (June 2012)... The bike came out in April and May 2012.. There was a lot of tests that had the Pani coming in mid to last in track times along with negative reviews.. The bike was a big change for most reviewers (along with new owners). There was a learning curve to riding this bike from back in 12'.

Example:

a.) Setting up and understanding the suspension link from P or F,
b.) ECU updates to clean up fueling and mid range dips (several updates from Ducati through 2013)
c.) Understanding other suspension set ups to maximize traction for the frameless bike.

I remember when my S arrived in May 2012 I was not happy with the little quirks. The bike was so new it took time for everyone to figure out how to actually get the bike to perform and operate on a high level..

As you start seeing the more updated track comparisons by different magazines and professional racers, the track times have the Pani rated more to the top.. I am not being a homer for Ducati nor putting down the ZX-10.. Both bikes are great... The Kawi and Bmw'r are better bikes out of the box and adding minor adjustments.. If your patience and have good knowledgable professionals to assist on setting up the Pani to your needs, you will understand the passion that the Pani owner feel!!!

Just my .02 cents. :)

I rode demo 2013 panigale s today and was very disappointed with it. I rode in a city not twistes. Vibrated like crazy, I was expecting smooth as butter. I guess I'll get a zx10r.
