Panigale Racing Throttle Spacer Kit

I fitted these today panigalespacers.com
Don't know if I'm missing something but there still seems to be about 10 degrees of slack.

Not sure it's made any difference at all. From standstill at a set of lights I twist the throttle and there still seems to be a slight delay before something happens. Is this normal after the kit install?

I don't have this particular spacer, I was able to purchase the one made/sold by a member.. and there is zero slack.. not 2mm, not 5mm and certainly not 10mm

I have attached a photo for you. As mentioned, Ducati Omaha will be able to provide you with all the details. The one I have is a little pricey, however the quality is good.

Trust this helps.

I prefer the Ducabike switch as it replaces the clamp for the radial mc of the front brakes so it clears up the clutter. I am surprised to see I do not have a pic of it mounted so here is a pic from eBay.

Hmm.. Must be the thickness of the ones I purchased. Will have a look and see if opening the gap further makes the difference.

+1 on the Ducabike switch. I have one on mine also, and used it to free up room so I could bring the grips in on both sides to get the bars narrower. Being fairly scrawny with narrow shoulders, I never did like the wide, flat OEM clipons. I noticed in some of the onboards of Canepa on the SSTK bike early on, he had the switch relocated for the same reason. I have Speedymoto bars on mine as well now and like the ergos a lot better.

Back to the throttle spacer, if someone put the spacer kit on their bike and still has slop like Dazzpowder noted, (regardless of which kit they bought) they had to have been installed wrong. Just not much space in there to fill up, so the kits are basically all about the same dimensionally.

Not sure how they can go on wrong, they are different sized spacers, the small spacer just would not fit over the bigger lug and if it did the thickness is the same anyway and that what determines the gap size. I asked as I noted early on people were making and glueing there own home made versions out of rubber and others metal which would mean some would end up with different sized gaps.

Yeah, it did seem odd. I am wondering if what you are noting is an electronic lag and not mechanical free play, as the latter would just about have to be gone with a spacer kit installed, or at least minimized to almost nothing. Specifically, refer to post #2 in this thread which mentioned a small deadzone after spacer install, and how to get rid of it.

Have not pursued that change myself as the spacer kit was sufficient for my needs, but it might be what you're looking for.

I used a kit from an alternate supplier panigalespacers.com. The kit comes with the "try-wing" bit required to disassemble the throttle housing.
Indeed, the spacers eliminate the mechanical throttle slop of the Panigale's throttle mechanism.
It took me less than 20 minutes to open the package, read the directions and install the product. A very simple and straight-forward installation process.
For me, the result was excellent, taking out virtually all 5 mm of slack I had in the throttle mechanism.
Since the bike is still awaiting some key structural components, I cannot test ride it and report to you how this will affect riding the bike; however, based on what others have reported I expect positive results, and likely some adjustment time.
Check out their Web site (link above) for informative photos and a video.

I fitted a kit from ebay, no issues. Personnally, I like it, but that's the thing here, I think it's just a personal preference. For me I like to make an input and get an instant response.

Oddly made a difference on motorway riding as it allows a less stressed position on the arm while holding a decent cruising throttle. But thats just me.

What I will say is be very careful when replacing the self tappers into the plastic throttle housing. I never stripped one, but it felt like it was giving a little.

Im coming up 800Km with my 1299 as at today, getting used to it and need to get to first service before i go on a track day on the 10th of Feb, the slack is a bit frustrating, and when i blip the gas on shifting down, I have the DQS set off (on downshift - sport mode) the slack is a problem.
so reading all the valuable posts here and seeing the advantages of the kit, can i ask why did the manufacturers not built it from the factory with zero slack, or slop?

give me sting if my question is stupid

I am not qualified to answer this? but was told by guys who ride with enthusiasm and who are amature track weekend racers that the stock suspension is more than an average person with my limited experience could ever use, and that going to an S would be an overkill?

(In my opinion the red front mud guard is better looking than the carbon....just saying)

Your comments are possibly justified but with respect unhelpful because if we use that argument it would be like saying the prime mover in the base is substandard as well??

the issue with throttle slop is real for me because its like a micro second to take gas that is irritating, and hard to pallet that Ducati engineers would overlook a basic control input every rider irrespective of his skill level uses on every ride

I hear ya. It was just a point that some major things have been overlooked on such an expensive bike. The S suspension isn't that good, much better than the crap on the base. The whole electronic adjusters is a gimmick and not useful for true track riders. Which is why I got a base and upgraded the suspension.

Installed the spacers on my track only 1199S last week and finally got to test them out on the track today. WAY better than stock. Does not feel like a hair trigger, just feels like it should have in the first place.

I wish I'd done it sooner.

They're a mass produced unit for several bikes and for a wide market on each. Not everyone wants or can handle an instant response. I imagine it's only a minority of enthusiasts and track goers that want it.

However, Ducati must be well aware of this as they produce and sell the slack removal kit.

I agree, it's not like a quick action throttle, only instant response.

Have you spent any time on a new 1299S at all?
