Tricolore, I am fascinated with the height changes you mentioned. With such a major change as dropping the front 10mm, and raising the rear 4mm at the same time, did you feel any instability at high speeds, or the feeling the front would wash out from under you? I have wanted to do the front drop - although less to start with - but was concerned with the aforementioned issues. I will give the front and rear height changes a try and see how it feels. I agree that you can never take someones particular settings and copy them to your bike - too many differences from weight, to riding style, to specific venue. Thanks for the input, I will give your changes a try!!

I had a 12 base and now a 13 S (stock suspension w/o upgrades). For me personally I like the S suspension better...I have only had the 13 on the street so far...so I can't comment for track usage yet. I think it may work for me because I am a heavier rider...yes kinda like an over stuffed sausage in my track suit...but hey I'm happy so no need to post the pic of the Pani test rider lol.

I started out a few mm's at a time until I felt comfortable with this setup, so that would be my recommendation. And of course, when you mess with the geometry, you almost always have to turn some knobs along the way too.

The bike feels more stable to me all around as it reduced head shake at speed and allowed better tracking in the corners because the bike's tendency to squat at acceleration takes away from the front's ability to steer. Have you ever felt that the bike tends to drift away from your line as you're accelerating out of the corner? This changed that tendency for the bike and made it feel like it's railing corners now and finishes the turn completely.

Hi Tricolore,,, how much fork tube (including the black cap) are above your top triple tree? I have seen stock base models at 6mm up to 8mm stock. Are your tubes at 10mm above triple tree or at 16/18mm above?
Also how did you measure the 4 mm raise in the rear? Motorwheels (Corse Dynamics) ride height tool?

Great point. I dropped it to show 15mm of fork tube. The corse dynamics ride height tool is the easiest way to go if you have stock rearsets and no swingarm guard. They don't work with all rearsets though. They make an adapter for the R now as well. Otherwise you can just find consistent points to measure from.

Just taking a bone stock S in sport and setting sag has set the bike up perfect for me at 6' and 195lbs.

At 170 the bike was smooth and stable, power out of corners clean and goes exactly where I want it too, throttle on or off.

No shimmy no shake, the front end has been slightly off the ground coming out of corners in second and I got a little wobble, but nothing out of ordinary.

Never had a bike work so well out of the box, it only took a few turns off rear sag and the bike was set. It was just a hair too stiff in the rear.

Your a lot faster then I am I suppose, and I have not been to the track yet so take what I say with a grain of salt. [also set this one up for rougher pavement]

Any reason to think that lowering the front end on an Ohlins equipped bike would not work the same?

NP.

10 mile flat valley at 5000' ft elevation, with no traffic at all, fenced on each side 50' off the road, with no trees or poles or deer.

Only place I would play like that. Literally out in the middle of nowhere.

That's a better answer than the usual... in Mexico

Being from Canada, it's hard to use that excuse. :)

Tricolore, what is the easiest method to get to the lower triple tree pinch allens so they can be loosened and then later, re-torqued? Is pulling the upper fairing required? What torque figures did you use for the upper and lower allens? Thanks in advance for the assistance.
