This problem is real

This is a REAL problem.
Call Mat at ohlins 1800 336 9029 extension #308.
He is working to resolve this for me.
I've gone thru 3 springs... then I decided to call ohlins directly.
Apparently the base model sachs is valved WAY softer than the ohlins.
The problem is at every speed... it just gets worse the faster you go.
(I have an expert race license so I know about going fast)
I have owned both base model and S model... and had no issue with the base model.
I am sending him my shock and he is changing the valves to match the base model if he finds no defects in his inspection.

Hmm only one post to date and you choose to use it to chip in now.

I have seen guys running 1.37's at Phillip Island on standard Panigale S suspension .
I think I need to tell them the suspension dosn't work .

Yeah I watched a local guy at losail put in a 2:07 on a tri colore on his second lap. The bike was supposedly straight off the floor of the dealer.

Even Dave Moss who tweeked my bike for me said the stock Ohlins is really good. Yeah I will admit that getting new kit from Ohlins direct with the SBK valving and sprung for you weight is better, but to say the stock Ohlins doesn't work, is a big leap.

Maybe other than a rear spring change, 99.99999999999% of Pani owners will never get to the limit of the stock kit. If you do then you shouldn't be on this forum, you should be on TV in WSBK or moto GP.

Why not get the new Hyosung?

Crazy fast, sexy looks and you can get one for the price of the Ohlins stuff.

I dont have the skill many of you have.

But I love this stock S suspension.

My 848 the tires were always feathered, with the bike set up as good as it can stock.

My tires are perfect on the 1199, when it is set up sweet, the bike does nothing but you give the confidence to push it more then you normally would.

Oh no ...damn I am at PI end of April too ....sh**t better get my suspension changed as well

I have had that unstable feeling on the 1199 S but I have to put my hands up and say "I didn't set it up and am certainly no suspension genius even if I wanted to!".

However, I kind of stuck with it. After all, I was thinking that with everything bolted to this engine there was no frame/chassis to 'flex' and compensate to help iron out bumps etc. Like a soft tail vs. hard tail scenario, it was obvious to me this bike was going to be a hard, bumpy ride. And while my race craft isn't massively advanced I have given the bike some testing times, maybe through error as well as cornering hard, fast and a good handful of throttle on the way out to cause a wobble. After more track sessions I found that although it felt at times it was going to bite me, I waited but it never came, so in all honesty where's the problem?

Again, admittedly it would of been better to get it set up properly. But my point is why is everyone so quick to say "That bike is sh*t?!". Have any of these trolls/haters stopped to think "Well actually my riding is sh*t so of course it will be unstable!"......... Didn't think so!

Why are so many quick to blame and change the bike? Take a look at your riding style and skill levels. I appreciate I'm talking to some very acomplished riders/racers here, far better than myself, so no offence meant, but maybe you need to change, not the bike? Okay, different bike but Casey Stoner is a prime example, some can deal with it, some can't.

Pandora needs to think outside the box.............

And as if by magic.......... Thanks Scrapper, JeffD!!

Watch the guys in these clips. Can't say that looks stable. But are they crying about problems?

handling

have 1199s and the 1299s.., although the 12 is better, i cant get out of a bumpy accelerating turn without serious problems.. track only, slicks only, changed rear springs, adjusted everything that can be adjusted.., on a smooth track all is well.. called ohlins, tried all suggestions, no help.. not sure where to go from here...

As above ^! Any bike that's set up for hard riding on smooth racetracks is going to have a problem coming out of a bumpy corner. If it's fine on one of your old bikes it's because that bike is way softer and not as sharp on the smooth fast parts of the track.

susp

guess ill keep checking back here., see if someone with actual experience writes something useful.. the first 85% of the 1199s is good., the first 95% of the 1299s is good.. great actually.., its that last few percent .. and only on the bumpy tracks.. the original post on first page here could have been written by me., tried what he has and couldnt agree more.. if u dont race, you would likely never notice..

I sure hope Chaz get his ...... handling issues sorted. Im sure he is frustrated with the handling woes that are causing him to finish where he has been finishing and if Chaz ever gets it sorted, maybe he can pass that info off to Shakey. Im sure he's not thrilled either
