Panigale Track Day

So what was harder, the last 225 miles on your '1000 mile day' coast to coast journey or the 225 mile ride home after your Buttonwillow track day?

The 1000 was harder, but only took a day to recover from. Quads and shoulders were sore for at least three after Buttonwillow.

Hi TKO,

I'm looking for a trailer for trackdays as I normally just ride there, what make is the trailer you are using in your photo ?. AC

If your in the States .... Kendon Stand-Up Motorcycle Trailers Motorcycle Lifts Utility Trailers

I bought mine used on Craigslist for about $1K. It works great .... :D It sits so low that you can easily load and unload by yourself.

great! took mine to the track twice so far and next is barber april 15.

simply addictive!

I might be there at Barber to for that day!! Its a long way from PA, but I am trying to work it in with the Deals gap/Us 421 trip.

Ive been tracking mine since the first day! :) Thunderhill, Laguna, and Infineon so far

First track day at Eastern Creek sydney, booked on the Pani S 28th March...cant wait:D

Looks like some people are getting infected with the track bug. I started in 2008 riding my old Hyper to the track and back.

Five years later: Enclosed trailer, generator, warmers, tents, compressor and tire-changer. Started training in late january to be fit, ordered suspension components, a huge pile of tires and am looking at a new suit.
Not to mention that I infected friends, family members, employees of mine and it keeps getting worse.

Just sayin';)

Wow, I so want to go down that path. This is the first bike I've owned that I would want to do that with.

I'm not too sure about putting my pani on the track just yet. I know it's made for it but its just so beautiful! I was thinking of buying a used gsxr 600 - 1000 to release the speed aggression I have on the track. How often have people seen others go down on the track and what was the main cause of them going down?

I thought the same thing, too pretty and too expensive. But, now after riding it I think it's such a waste of bike to only ride it on the street. It's not happy unless you're hard on the throttle, hard on the brakes and cornering that is impossible to do on the street around here. I can't wait until June when I first take it to the track. I just have to transition from pretty CF protection to more functional protection. I had a basic suspension set up and will see how it goes before investing further. Now I have a MTS PP for regular street riding and commuting!

main reason they go down is because they want to go faster than they're capable of. (understanding physics, body positioning, vision, ...) most failures occur because of improper management of the right hand. TC will help but won't save you.

In ~50-60 track days in cars I saw an ambulance go out once or twice and a tow truck/flat bed ~15 times. Compare that to one motorcycle track day in which there was one major injury (apparently the guy was riding like a maniac) and several other bikes went down, including a brand new RSV4 that looked nearly destroyed. So, tracking bikes appears to be about 10x (or more) financially and physically dangerous than tracking a car. (It's also about 10x more intense!).

I'm thinking a long the same lines as apeluv. I'll do a few more track days on the Pani, but I think buying a full-race bike that someone built up and rarely used is the way to go.

That is definitely true when compared to cars vs bikes on trackdays. Rarely see a major accident with cars yet on bike days its 5+ accidents.

I would just get racing fairings for the panigale or a track dedicated bike.
Im probably just gonna keep using my pani on the track because it so damn easy to ride on it.

OK, I'm not super experienced, maybe 5 track days now (3 being the CSBS), but last Saturday people were going down all the time, which I didn't experience before. I think maybe 7-10 incidents where they red flagged and sent the safety/tow truck out to pick up a bike on the side of the track.
This bike was totaled I imagine. Snapped fork, snapped triple clamp, rear wheel cracked in half, fluids leaking, etc. The rider was OK but most likely a concussion and his buddies took him to the ER to get checked out.

I'm debating now getting race fairings for the Pani .... or dedicated track bike. I'm with you though, the Pani is so fun so maybe the former! :D

My brothers are riding beat-up clunkers at the track, cost them 5k$ each to get one, they both had highspeed crashes caused by overconfidence and lack of care for the mount; cost 2k$ to rebuild bikes and cashed in a cat life each for no physical harm.

I always rode my street rides which involves enough risk to keep the wannabe inside in check with only two minor incidents totalling 300$ in damage. Plus I pass off as the crazy, badass idiot who rides a Pani at the track.

You fellows all do as you wish;)
