Even though he doesn't have the most titles, Jordan is considered by most (if not all) as the greatest in many ways. Single handedly changed the game n how it was played. He certainly didn't go out on top and probably hurt his own image during his Wizards years. In the end, did it really matter? Nope. The game continued on and there were others in line who continued to make their mark in the league....Kobe and now LeBron. Kobe wasn't that great in his later years either even if he didn't suffer from injuries. LeBron will do the same if he decides to play into his late 30's.
Point is, a person is acknowledged as the GOAT for their career accomplishments and impact that they have had in their sport. While you may dislike or even hate Rossi, not a single person logically and realistically can take away from the fact that he is considered by most to be the GOAT. All this what ifs and so called advantages he has had over the years is ridiculous. He is riding in the premier class. A class full of "not so human" humans. The slowest guy in the class is mind blowing fast. Even if there are only 4 realistic contenders, the fact still remains that at 38 years of age, he still poses a threat to the other 3 racers practically on every track. Just because you ride the best bike on the grid, doesn't automatically mean you should win the race. It still takes 25% skill and 75% bigggg balls to push the limits these guys push every single race. I like Rossi and what he does for the sport but I'm a fan of racing in general and don't have a favorite rider. Hell, I have Rossi helmets and even a Lorenzo helmet. Go figure. His time for retirement will come soon but as with all greats, there will be another and the sport will continue on just like all others do. He's not hurting anyone elses chances to win. The greats have to earn their place in the sport and compete against the best to prove themselves. Rossi is an old guy who can still do it, just like Biaggi and Checa in their 40's did it in WSBK.
