Cliff notes:
Got a puncture
bought tire and took my bike to dealer
spindle nut WON'T come off!!!!!

Dealership even bought a 3/4 impact just for this occurrence and it's not budging. They have tried to heat the spindle while using the impact. I took the bike to different shops/guns/compressors and nothing. I had four guys and a five foot breaker bar and still nothing. We are running out of ideas at this point and have no clue on what the hell is causing this.

bike has 26k
bought the bike with 16k and it had new tires
stock wheels 1199 base abs
ducati/panigale certified tech, we have no ducati dealer in Las Vegas

I do have full aftermarket warranty, but my tech isn't 100% sure this would be covered under manufacturer defect.

Have you tried standing on the breaker bar and giving it a bounce? have a guy stand beside you on the ground so you can balance and then you get on the breaker bar and bounce it. My cousin thought it was ok to install his rims using solely an impact gun and when it came time to swap out for winter he went through the exact same thing. They tried everything too and what got it off was the guy bouncing on the breaker bar. Good luck.

Im actually surprised theres no duc dealer in vegas.

break the nut.

drill small holes in one of the nut's grooves and hammer a flathead in.

that should do it.

make sure to have a new nut on hand.

rrgerman, lets just say I won't be taking my bike there ever again. I actually go to Mario over at freedom cycles. He's from Cali and certified. Guy is top notch and knows his stuff, good group of guys at that dealer.

As far as my beloved bike goes... right next to my father's shop there is a trailer/semi shop. So I took the bike there. They had a 3/4 socket that fit and brought out their biggest 3/4 attached to their best compressor with a full charge of air..... nope! My father, myself and the shop owner chuckled. A couple of WTFs came out from the owner and my dad when they held the gun open for some time shortly after. Back into the shop they went. Luckily for me he had a ONE INCH to 3/4 reducer socket. Next thing I know they came out with a ONE INCH impact gun and reducer socket. I thought to myself it's either going to come off or rip off. About four taps from the gun and nothing still. We all looked at each other and I gave the ok. I closed my eyes and heard the gun go off for about 5-6 seconds and BAM off it came! No damage whatsoever! No corrosion, rust, thread locker, stretched/coursed threads, absolutely nothing! Took is back to Mario to get the tire replaced. He inspected the bike and we still can't figure out why it was such a bitch to get off.

And yes the nut was torqued to proper spec this time! If anyone has this happen to them make sure you call around for a trailer/semi shop and ask them first. We called all over Vegas and found only one semi shop that would consider trying to remove the nut and they wanted $140 along with me signing a waiver for damages.

Just can you guys confirm if looking at it is it left hand (counter clock) to remove ..looking at RH side of bike

I lived in Vegas for about 14 yrs and left it back in 2008. It doesn't support Ducati very well like it does HD. I watched two go out of business. The second was with the local HD dealer. Obviously this was before the great recession.

As stated clock wise tightens, counter clock wise to remove.

The cruiser market is HUGE out here. The crotch rocket scene is mostly made up of a younger demographic. I'm not saying that a 18-25 year old cannot afford them but it is hard to get insured at a reasonable rate. Like I tell everyone I meet: anyone can buy one of these machines, it's maintaining them that's the expensive part.

Word is that Ride Now is opening a dealer this summer which is bad for my wallet (parts wise), but I still won't trust those guys with my bike. Hopefully the can stay open for a while.

We thought so too but it was properly greased. As soon as the nut came off we inspected it to see what we could find. Which is why we don't understand how this happened. Not my dad who has been wrenching all his life and has his shop, the semi shop owner, myself and the guys at Freedom have an answer to this situation. Oh well hopefully this helps someone else out down the line.

Good to know man... I havent taken my Pani to a mechanic yet, but when its time to do so I will consider Mario.... Thanks!

Glad to hear you got it off with no damage. They probably did what my cousin did and went to town with the impact the last time.

I do most of the work on mine but there's certain things we have to go to the dealer. Mario can reset service lights and aftermarket warranty issues as well. You should stop by and just check them out when they have their monthly BBQ.

Yeah that's exactly what you shouldn't do! lol
