Ducati released a bulletin saying the fuel line must be replaced every time you take the tank off. I've had mine off a few times and never had an issue. I would speculate it's how you take the fuel line off which is the issue.; ie if there's a lot of pulling and stretching you're going to have problems. I've always kind of pried it off of the barb on the T fitting by pushing it off, not pulling it off.

If you use the QD fittings, it's not necessary to replace the line according to the bulletin.

I'm laughing because I just went through this. Hose had a tiny hole in this hose after a couple of on / offs, fuel leaked everywhere and left this sticky oily looking residue over the side of the engine that looked like an oil leak to start with. I gather this was the bonding glue from the inside of the hose layers. I'll be using the quick connects next time but ordered 2x new hoses just in case. Not the greatest of designs.

Well, I’ve pulled the tank on my V4SP at least 10 times now with zero problems with the fuel line. There must be some ham-fisted “technicians” and/or DIY’ers out there…

Edit: Actually, it’s likely a CYA liability move by Ducati because it IS a pita setup that easily results in leakage if not done with enough care to prevent damage.

What year is your bike?

2022. 8500 kms. Dealer would have had the tank off twice for some warranty work. I'd taken it off twice also with care in this area due to design (once to check the warranty work and the second time for the full exhaust install).

I couldn't agree more. I think the technique used to remove the tank is the important part. But, I'd suggest ordering one as a spare only because it's likely a minimum or two weeks away.

The cavet I'd give with that is with 2022+ bike the fuel tank and mid-fairing mounting changed slightly.

Could be. Maneuvering a bonded hose like this one, the way you have to to get it to clear frame, is not ideal.

Interestingly, it states, the pipe doesn't require replacement...if you use the quick release fittings (that are fitted from factory) 🤣

Would make sense to just use the quick release fittings when removing the fuel tank wouldn’t it.

I've been advised that the plastic T-fittings are quite delicate too, so having a spare is a good idea. I'll add a hose now too. Thanks for making us aware of this bulletin!

If you posted an Amazon link, they don't populate properly, cause forum reasons.

I wasn't successful in getting them to separate, so if there's a tool I'd love to know more.

TBF, I've separated the fuel line numerous times without issue...so far. I think if you adopt a more push than pull ideology you'll be okay. But, if you're doing mission critical things like traveling for track days, order a spare.

that covers around 3/4 of the forum then......including our resident expert engineer and his special advise!

the fix Ducati should be looking for...and then engineering the fix....still some lead, other talk shoite ;)

Pulled both ends off. Greased both nipples (oh baby) used ideal clamps. The plastic quick disconnects and the t will heat age and become brittle. Push off of the t while supporting quick disconnects. Really ducati. See above.
