I trashed a water pump on track, took the teeth clean off the gears and probably 5 miles from engine meltdown. Told the dealer it was on a trackday.......... replaced on warranty

lol, your water pump is not a $20k warranty claim, now go a damage that engine from overheating and I bet you ducati will send somebody to check the condition of the bike.

What about when Ducati themselves include the track block off kit with their street marketed 'track ready' Anniversario?

Also, the dealer is the intermediary between you and Ducati; except in unusual circumstances, Ducati will honor repairs made at the advisement of the dealer and even then, I have had my dealer challenge Ducati regarding initially denied claims and they have submitted photos to convince them otherwise.

ducati sell the 1198 with a track school ,easy up,tires warmed. back in 2010 if i remember that don't change the fact the you warranty can be void if you make you bike a track bike or if you take your bike to the track.
we need to make clear is not the track the problem is that everybody know that when you ride at the track you ride the bike very hard. You can do the same damage in the public road is just is hard to prove it because you can said all day long that you was riding under the speed limit, can you said the same at the track ?
also no dealer will challenge ducati, they will ask for mercy with a cherry on top. sure they will tell you .... just to make feel better but remember dealer work for ducati making money out you, not the other way:D

You said that it wasn't Ducati promoting the track image, it was the dealer. I am demostrating that it IS Ducati. I don't care how fast you ride street or track.

If a part fails within the contractual obligations, as in, not being used for commercial purposes, i.e. racing or for rental, then it should be covered under warranty. Period. Tough ..... You promised that it would work under hard driving conditions. It doesn't matter what pavement you are riding it on and the bike shouldn't care either. If the mods didn't interfere with the working conditions of the stock parts then stand behind your product. No one is asking for anything more than that.

Sorry but what I said was that ducati back in 2010 offer a track promotion and that if some dealer are offering track day for the customer they are doing it on the own ducati is not the sponsor for those even. Yes I agree with you as far warranty goes ducati is selling a dream of buying a race bike. It no different from bmw the tell you that if you buy the gs you can cross river now go and cross a river and hydrolock your bike they will tell you to .... off!!.yes i know there is law that protect you from warranty refuse but to tell you the true nobody is going to hire a lawyer to fight over a bike when you know you set up your bike to race.

you can cry all you want but if ducati said "NO" you only option is a lawyer, and how much a lawyer is going to cost you?, ducati have they private lawyers 24/7 you will need to pay some money just to take a change of winning something from them.yes if you still can call BBB for free maybe you can ask for some mercy

The warranty exclusion says racing or related activities.

The second part is vague and that's guaranteed to be intentional to give Ducati the ability to deny things at their discretion. An owner's only recourse then is lawyering up.

My dealer actually warned me about the warranty implications of doing a full track conversion. They didn't say "If you do this it will void your warranty" but they did say that if a corporate rep sees something that looks like a duck and walks like a duck they're liable to call it a duck.

so what did they consider full track conversion in that discussion?
