Race fairings

Help Support Ducati Forum:

Ended up going with a lavatech set, I like that they are very reasonably priced so I won’t care about replacing them if I lay the bike down at the track and they are 10% wider than the V4R fairings.

Get them printed a metallic silver about this color:

But then putting this red decal set over the silver:

Will have a color combo similar this this:

Okay, I finally got my Lavatex V4 R/S fairing installed and tested and like them plenty.
Panigale V4R/S 2018-21 Lavatex Race Bodywork (Prepreg Basalt Fiber) - HotbodiesRacing.com
Here are my observations:
  • Delivery took 10 weeks, imported from Europe, and Hotbodies customer support was poor throughout. But eventually, I got everything as ordered.
  • The fairings fit right onto my 2019 V4 base model with no mods or adapters needed.
  • Body panels fit snugly and were in good condition, but are intended to be painted.
  • They are black and look decent enough for me not to paint them at this time.
  • All fasteners were pre-installed, 1/4-turn DZUS. I did remove the light retaining washers from each screw to make the panels easier to install and remove and thus far have not lost any screws after 2 hard days at the track. I'll buy some spares just in case.
  • One or two of the screws required a bit of finesse to secure, but after a while I got the hang of flexing the panels and found the right technique.
  • I really like being able to assemble/disassemble all my body panels in 2 minutes!!! Like really, this is awesome!
  • The set requires a V4R windscreen. The base model windscreen will not fit.
  • Wind protection is probably as good as it gets.
  • Engine cooling is certainly enhanced. I just did 2 days at Chuckwalla with tempts nearing 100 each day and I never got over 4 bars, when for sure, this would have gone 5 bars entering the pits with the OEM fairings.
  • These have winglet sections but I'm not going to run winglets. I'll duct tape the areas or get some block-off plastics.
  • I also discovered the fastest guy in my class has the same fairings and likes them plenty.
Overall, this was a good solution for me.

Thanks Steven! Bike is still in pieces, but should be together end of the month for COTA May 7. I’ll get some pics then.

Dude, I was chatting with Ignazio at Cresson on Sunday. He mentioned they added the May 7 date, I will definitely be there. I will be there Apr 12th for the Aprilia day as well.

Look forward to finally meeting you in person!

Thanks bro! I’m looking forward to meeting you too. :)

I’m attending the 3:16 and Ridesmart days, but didn’t know about the Aprilia day. Is it like the bmw rr event in October? I’d go but I don’t think the bike will be ready by the 12th.

I haven't done one before with Aprilia, but I assume its similar to the BMW day. I signed up for the advanced group and hope they keep the noobies and test rides contained to the novice groups. I didn't bother, but they offered everyone a sign up list for test rides on any of their new bikes so if there's a new aprilia you are curious about, it would be a good opportunity to get it out on track .

Hey has anyone found an optically correct windscreen they're happy with? The warpy OEM is miserable on the track.
I've seen a few ultra lightweight windscreens that are pretty good optically, however they are pretty flimsy.

Cool. Just checked - sold out show.

I had this for my '19 base model and liked it a lot in hindsight (no glare or visual distortion): 97180631A / 97180641A - TALL WINDSCREEN PANIGALE V2 V4
With new fairings, I had to get an "R" windscreen and found that the Puig has lots of glare and unpleasant visual distortion. I got used to it over a weekend but may look for an alternative part: Puig R-Racer Windscreen for Panigale V4 R

I have the Ducati tall one as well, its expensive but I don't notice any distortion or glare. I have the smoke one, but its barely tinted.

IMO, nothing screws highway wheelie guy like a black windscreen.

Thanks @Fry, @bp_SFV4. I found this Italian WRS last night & this German made MRA. Need to compare with Ducati Performance, though I'm kind of pissed they don't make the OEM right in the first place.

Good to know.
I can't understand a black windscreen. What does it mean? "I sit like I'm peddaling," or "I use the force."

I was happy with MRA, but they and I presume most of the aftermarket ones dont have the moulded lip on the rear face like stock. It had a clear spilt seal that yellowed with age and was held on with a couple of metal clips, I eventually went without. My preference would be for a tall stock, or if you are handy you can make one to your own specs using polycarbonate sheet and an oven.

...and a vacuum! That's not a bad idea but would take a bunch of time. If I make a bunch of them, might be worth it.
A tall stock doesn't have the same optics issues as the original?

The Ducati Performance one which is taller doesn't have any distortion. Its thinner than the stock one which is likely why.
