Well I am continuing to spend money on upgrades and since getting that ticket on Hwy 2 last month I need to change tactics.

I would welcome any thoughts as I am giving myself a 'black Friday' gift and possibly get a radar / jamming system.

I am thinking of getting the Escort for $1,700. I think I can get 1/2 price tomorrow at Al & Eds Auto Sound.

In the same boat as yourself except I currently run the 9500i on my bike (V1 in my car). It's not enough (but it works fine tho). Can't hear it so well and the visual cues are not the best. Around here you need a laser jammer. In my city, if you are 20 over PSL, you're screwed, not even a lawyer can help you. But I certainly wouldn't get the 9500ci. I'm in the middle of my research, too for a Spring 2013 purchase.

This option is only for all-weather use, IMHO. The Valentine One is the best by far, plus it tells you how many radars it is seeing, and where they are . I have it on all my bikes/cars.

Would you be able to post photos of your setup Trauma? Anxious to see where ya put it and if you connected it right to the battery? In Virginia they are illegal so Id need something a bit more hidden and have to find someone to ship it to and then to me, stupid companies wont even ship here. Its like the last damn state in country to ban these things which is too old school.

I was a cop for 8 yrs and used every radar and laser there was. I dont know of anything that can actually beat the laser once its targeted but I always gave people the benefit of the doubt and a VERY high threshold on speed since I didnt want to be my own hypocrite. I think the Valentine is the largest device out there though so just curious where you have it buddy? Thx

Will do - up in WI at the moment. Florida was like that too. Valentine was one of the first detectors to not send the signal giving themselves away. It has a remote module for the display that can be mounted anywhere, check their site.
 
I've had a V1 since 2001 and love it! It's saved my ass countless times and I love the arrows on it. Paired up with a blinder laser jammer it's a stout set up.
I used my buddy's 9500i which seemed to work well too but once you get used to the V1s arrows and bogey counter you pretty much need it. Hah!

Hi Trauma, the radar is mounted on standard RAM components. the ball you see sticking out is one i got from either gadget guy or amazon which screws directly into one of the fork mount ones. i left it there as i may want to mount something else in the future. Directly under the tft is where i mounted the led for the radar.
 
I want to say thanks to everyone for sharing and I pulled the trigger! Here is what I am getting:

I feel like I am paying too much for the install ($1,000), but everything is gong to be custom. Both the radar detector and jammer will be mounted under the headlight, and the "escort brain" will go in the storage compartment behind the seat. The displays for both will be mounted near LCD and I am still thinking about how I want those installed. I am also having a custom audio out that will hard wired and will run from under the seat so I can use with ear buds or Scala system.

The project is getting done next Tuesday, so I"ll try and post some after pictures to share.......then the first test drive will be next weekend!

How with Ram, did you get 2 devices mounted? I have just the stem nounted ball, and only know how to attch one to it.

So Gunny when you were a cop, what did you do when you had your laser set up and found a motorcyclist that had a radar detector ?
